yeah japan has all that crap over there. the market just isn't what it is here as it is for them over there. i remember seeing a thread somewhere, that someone was gonna use the drivetrain from a crv. i don't remember exactlly where i saw it though.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Honda Tuning was planning on using a CRV drivetrain in the Integra.
To clear things up, there WAS an AWD Accord wagon in Japan (6th gen, I believe...) It came with the H23 VTEC motor (another thing people have called BS on) and they ONLY came in automatic. To make a CB7 AWD, you would need to modify the floor quite a bit to accomodate the driveshaft and differential. Then you'd have to replace the rear end with the AWD components to drive the wheels. If you don't want to go automatic, you'll need to use the transmission from a CRV, which would require some fabrication as well.
Is it doable? Certainly. Is it going to be cheap? Certainly not. Will it hold a lot of power? Probably not. Is it worth it? That's up to you.
If you really want to do it, look into the JDM Accord, and how much those parts can be had for. The 6th gen, unlike the 5th gen, is considerably different in terms of suspension components, so a lot of fabrication will still be needed.

the RA series Ody had AWD.. maybe using the gearbox, and using a CB4 chassis (dump the 4WS) and u got urself space for the driveshaft, even the tank doesnt need modding.. civics from the EF series had AWD as options. the accord had AWD from the CF5 (AWD sedan) and wagon CF6, if im not mistaken. correct me if im wrong.
cheers

Was there an AWD sedan as well? I only know about the wagon.
Does the 4WS CB have room for a driveshaft with the space provided for the 4WS components? I've never had the chace to get a good look at that stuff...
Which engine did the AWD Odysey have? If it was the V6, it won't be of much help. If it was the F series equipped model, that could be useful... (again, automatic...)
Using the Civic parts would be troublesome, since the Civic uses rods instead of cables for shifting. Not that it couldn't be done, but it would be a hassle. I know Bisi Ezerioha (who is now a member here
) ran his CRX with an F22 mated to a D series transmission via an adapter plate, so it IS possible. You'd need to fab up a rod shifter setup to make it work.

Cool idea, a lot of work, probably well worth it
My suggestion: try getting a hold of a last generation CRV AWD and then try transplanting that into a CB7. Or even better, try transplanting a CB7 outer body onto a CRV chassis setup.
here's an example of a front/rear/all wheel drive Integra:
REAR wheel drive INtegra Ebay link
Rear wheel drive HONDA-TECH Thread
Integra Drift!!!

just to give an idea: the following are just the transmission work that went into this integra project:
Honda CR-V 5 Speed Transmission
Jackson Racing Aluminum Flywheel w/ Chromoly Friction Surface
Jackson Racing Clutch
All Wheel Drive / Front Wheel Drive / Rear Wheel Drive Components (Use is in parenthesis)
Honda CR-V Transfer Case (AWD/RWD already installed)
Honda / Acura Integra GSR Front Axles (Front Wheel Drive SPARE)
Honda / Acura Integra GSR Axle Outer and Inners (Rear Wheel Drive already installed)
Honda CR-V Drive Shaft (AWD / RWD already installed)
Honda CR-V Rear Differential with welded Real-Time unit (AWD / RWD already installed)
Honda CR-V Rear Differential with functioning Real-Time unit (AWD spare)
Honda CR-V Rear Axles (RWD / AWD installed)
have fun and please keep us updated on ur projectDEVOTE

If an AWD setup could be added to a CB7 and beefed up a bit, a built turbo H22 would make good use of that extra ability to put power to the ground. With the AWD and turbo parts installed, the car would probably weigh in at about 3200lbs. At that weight and potential power output, it would be competitive with the Evo (3200lbs) and the STi (3300lbs). The CB7 is a fairly balanced car, so with a decent suspension, it wouldn't be a waste.
Still, that's a lot of ifs
A halfassed job won't be worth it. The price of making an AWD turbo H22 CB7 the right way would probably come out to be about the cost of an Evo or STi... 25-30k I would say.

You guys are over thinking this an easy way to make an awd accord is simple. Two engine's one if the front and one in the back, there wouldnt be as much fabing up to do, the hardest part would be making the motors run togeather and run off the same ecu. Its great way to double your horse power, but would it be worth it dont know till you try.

the RA ody had the F22B single cam non-vtec motor, an later on also had the F23 SOHC VTEC (both had AWD options)
the CF's had AWD as options, but christened different chassis codes (CF5) both body styles had AWD options, but the engine in the CF5 was the SOHC VTEC, not DOHC VTEC.. (tho some Japs just swapped it for a DOHC). not sure bout the wagon tho, no CF wagons runnin around in Malaysia..
the CB4 had a larger and higher tunnel hump and from my observation, sufficient space for fitment of a longshaft, but dunno if possible to do.
but the AWD EF5 civic didnt require such large space, only space for the rear diff and longshaft, but the rear arm links were of different designs..
heres some pics of my frenz EF5
pardon the quality, camphone

The 2 engine idea is probably the best bet...you might not even need to run both engines with one ecu...there was this one Audi tuner...Bimoto the car was called...used different engines, different ecu...all they shared was the throttle cable. The cables they could also unhook and run each engine independently....
for now here's the venerable twin engine Tiburon:

Eh, "not worth it" is based on what the person doing it feels. Hell, any V8 muscle car owner may laugh at us for wanting more power from a FWD 4 cylinder family car! To them, ANYTHING we do is not worth it!
The two engine idea is interesting, but I think it's more involved than you guys think. Just mounting another engine in the car will be more work than running a driveshaft. The AWD Accord parts from Japan could be modified to work on a CB7, I'm sure. A driveshaft can be created easily enough. Axles could be created easily enough.
I figure the parts would be $2500 shipped from Japan, if you can find someone to pull what you need (first you'd have to figure out what you need!) Then you need a competant fabricator or body shop to rip into your floor for the driveshaft tunnel (making sure to clear the way for, or relocate, any necessary fuel and brake lines). Then you'd need to figure out how to fit the tranny, transfer case, and rear differential... and get your custom axles and driveshaft made. All that custom work would probably be $8000 or more (just pulling a figure out of my arse). While you're at it, might as well get it all beefed up to handle more power! So, maybe $13,000 or so for all the parts, some drivetrain beefage, and all the custom installation. Now drop a good $12,000 into a GOOD motor build and turbo.
Push out 400whp from a built and boosted H23 VTEC, running through a beefed up automatic AWD... you've got yourself one hell of a car! Drop another $10,000 into interior and exterior work, and for the price of an STi, you have a CB7 that looks just as good, and makes even more power. And best of all, you have something that NOBODY else has!

ok well try what my shop's 1st project will be:
get an Evo motor and tranny and put it in an cb7. im sure there will be issues for the length of the drive shaft to the rear but im sure if someone can swap a LS7 corvette motor into a '67 corvette(the '06 vette is longer than the '67 i think) then i shouldnt hav no problem swaping the Evo motor into the cb7

That's true... dropping in the Evo motor would probably be no more difficult. You'd still need custom mounts, linkages, driveshafts, axles, and wiring... but when doing something this extreme, all you're really doing is putting a motor into a rolling box
When you rip the car apart enough, it doesn't matter WHAT you put in there, as long as you make all the parts work together!
I would want to stick with Honda stuff myself... just because. If I wanted to drop a 4G63 into something different, it would be a Mitsubishi (or something that had a Mitsubishi motor to begin with, like an old Hyundai or something)
