ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Upgrading to BIG 16g

Hi. I currently have a 14b Turbo installed but want to reduce the chance of a blown engine but also getting more HP without modifying the internals. Ive heard that with the Big 16g, changing the internals is not needed just like the 14b. Is this true for the BIG 16g or would i have to upgrade the internals for this? also will the 14b exhaust manifold and dump pipe fit on the Big 16g? also, if Internals or other thing were needed, what would have to be changed or added? Please if anyone can get back to me on this before or by early morning tomorrow, i will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    ,J.P.

Yes you can run the big 16g, It flows better than the 14b and produces less heat. Which is the enemy of FI. Just dont get boost happy with it.

You'll most likely have to retune for the new turbo, though. Don't just put it on and run with the 14b map!

My 16g blew after lack of oil (damn oil restrictor)

but after further research, as long as you have a decent FMIC, i'd just stick with the 14b.

If you can, do some datalogging and see what your intake temps are. probably just fine...

The 14b can handle about 260whp, for 8-10psi it is an absolute perfect match. Dont' spend your money on upgrading turbos if you plan to stay at this boost level.

i plan on running 230-240whp at around 10-11psi.

if your intercooler is 75% efficient, the difference in intake tempatures from a 50% (definate worst case senario on 14b), and a 70% 16g is about 10degrees :P

there is wayyyy too much hype over turbo efficiency in the honda world...people saying the t3/t4 is the best solution
definately not for this type of setup...
at least come close to the HP limits of a turbo before moving on.

If you want to upgrade, i'd recommend A) porting both the manifold and the turbo. ANd get a very good flowing exhaust.

Also, in case you don't already, run some sort of intake pipe that pulls air in close to the battery...relocate battery to the trunk if you can (via marine box or gel cell).

That's my rant for the day
