Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    1990 to 1993 Accord engine?

Hello all. I am new to this Honda sport. What is the engine designation for a 90 -93 Accord? Do all the engines within these years interchange? Or is it better to swap in a newer style engine. I have a pretty extensive background with small block chevrolets. But that doesnt help with Honda's much.

I have a 1993 Accord with a stuck cam, which it broke. Any thoughts on this?
Is this an interference engine? Looking for help......

    Thanks David

depending on the trim it could be F22A1(125 HP) , F22A4(130hp i think) and the F22A6(140HP).

any of the 3 engines can swap directly into the spot of the engine that you have right now. try to shoot for the A4 or A6 as they just are stronger engines. if you realllly want to have fun, try to import yourself a JDM engine such as an H22 or the H23 for the Prelude.

      First: Welcome to the board..

Second: Searching is always your friend, especially when it comes to possible motor swaps and motor questions...

Third: Since you are brand spankin new to this site and the Honda game I will help you out... HERE is the F-series engine list. That is where you will need to look and find anything you could possibly want to know about your motor or identifying what motor is in your car currently....

Lastly: Again Welcome to the board. Later

the car is a 12/92 Accord EX if that helps. I just want it to run again. I got it as a work trade. Any help is appreciated.

If you want to update and get a new motor, I would suggest the H22. Majoirty of people on this board swap in that, because its a basic drop in with some wiring. You can also drop in the F22B, there are couple of members on here that have swapped to that.

Edit I am not 100% sure if its not a interference motor so I am going to do some searching and see if it is.

So I must have the F22a6 engine? Exactly what other engines swap in with little to no modifications? Any thoughts about the current cam issue?

If you drive an EX then your stock motor is definitely an F22a6. I'm pretty sure the f22a6 has 140hp. I think every single engine listed are the engines that fit with barely any work. But just incase, I'll give you a quick run-down of the most common engines used. F22A, F22B, H22, and H23. I think thats it.

Yea you have the f22a6. Like stated above the H22 will fit in with modification. From members I have talked to, the F22b is a direct drop in with little modification.

                    H22

So what make and model did the H22 come in. Remember I am new to this. Sorry.....

H22's came from 92-96 Preludes and H22 Type-S's came from 97 and 98 i believe. JDM (japanese domestic market) engines are much powerful so if you plan on swapping it then i'd say go for a JDM rather than a USDM. I heard from several people that vouche for hmotorsonline.com. You should call them up and from what i hear, they're helpful too. This forum is extremely rich on H22 information so if you have questions, theres probably not a thread that hasn't answered an H22 question. But we're all here to help you, so ask away.

the f22 has about 140 hp and I'm not sure about torque, but its not that much.......the H22 out of a 92-96 prelude has about 190 hp with 160ish torque (i think) and the H23 has about 160 hp but a little more torque than an H22........H23 engines are fairly easy to find at junk yards, with a lot of searching and a little luck you should be able to pick one up for less than $500. The H22 is a little more difficult to find and a little more expensive but its a DOHC (dual overhead cam) with V-tec..........when you think of vtec....hm.......you said that your a chevy small block mechanic....so think of adding a large blower to a 383 stroker.....that only opens completely or closes completely......most people set their vtec to open around 4k on the tach but its completely adjustable with a descent tune man that can chip it for you.

I myself am fairly new to the honda world so if any of you veterans can possibly explain this in more layman terms then feel free........or if I have misunderstood my mechanic and said something that is just stupid, feel free to call me dirty names and correct me, I can take constructive critisism

oh yeah, and an H22-H23 from 92-96 will fit with two engine mounts (and brackets) swapped out, you can even use your F22 transmission. If you like longer gears like me that is..........

any F22, H23, H22 motor (out of mid 90's accords and preludes) will bolt into the 90-93 accord engine bay.

all of the blocks and trannies shared the same accessory and mount bolt points, so youll just be swapping the block, head and tranny in, and youll use all of the accessories/wiring/mounts/etc from the original motor.

just make sure you get the proper engine computer to match the engine you get, if its anything different than the F22A 90-93 motor.

any other questions beyond that, we have many guides and threads explaining how to do specific swaps, but well be here to help with any specific questions.
