F20B stopped running

i have a chance to buy an f20b from a friend of mine for 500. it is a complete motor, he had it swapped in his CD4 and one day he said it just stopped, he had lost interest in the car and wanted to put the stock motor back in so he pulled it. the car just stopped running. does anyone have any ideas as to what could possibly be wrong, and do you think that this would be a decent deal? the motor also includes a set of wiesco pistons

he said one day the car just died. like it turned off and would crank but never fired up

There is no way to properly diagnose a car or even get close with a description like that. The more info you give the better of a response you'll get.

sounds like an air/spark/fuel problem to me...not internal. If something blew internally, your buddy would be like "WTF was that noise?" Sounds like something came loose that supports the three needs of the engine....that is best case scenario.

he did say that when he pulled the motor there was a loose sensor i believe on the back of the intake manifold.

i am sorry i cannot give anyone a better description. i rode in the car a couple of times when it was running and it pulled atrong. i was contacted by my buddy when the car stopped running and that is the description he gave. if i knew more i would explain it in more depth. sorry. does anyone think i should tackle this deal? or is it not really a deal?

if it wont crank make any sound from the starter either check your main power fuse its an 80anp fuse fld style though with snips and a drill you can make flb style but make sure that its the same ampage or its the battery main fuse thats a 50amp fuse fld style and all can be found under the main fuse box in the engine bay

1. Turn it by hand if it turns then its not siezed which is a good thing.
2. If you think its a good investment go for it.
3. If you get a bad motor be ready either not to get your money back or tiem to spend money.
4. Thats all im gonna say.

just make sure the T-belt isnt snapped, anything else should be cheap enough if you are getting the motor for $500

I'll tell you what, if you dont want that motor, let me know because if its close enough to where I'm located I'll go and scoop it up.

If it stopped running, but will crank... it's most likely something fuel or spark related, as said above. EASY to fix in most cases, and fairly cheap as well. As R33 said, amke sure the timing belt didn't snap (just pull the valve cover off... easy enough) If that's good, grab it! And before you install it, change the timing belt
