ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Speedo problem...even after changing VSS

Over the past couple months my speedo would be jumping and whatnot. Just yesterday is stopped at 0 and doesnt move at all. So I did some research and I went out and bought a used VSS and I replaced it about 1 hour ago... The gear on the old part was stripped like a b****. (I had replaced the whole thing).

Then I put in some power steering fluid to make up for the loss and I just took it out for a test run.

Still at 0. What else could be wrong?? I'm so lost and would really like this fixed today

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

    thanks.

hmm well I compared the gears from the old one to the one I bought and the one I bought looked fine....unless its the sensor on the top as well

I just switch the old sensor with the one I bought....so right now it has the newer gears part + my old sensor (just incase the sensor I bought now isn't working)

going to test it...will be back

check the ground to the vss... the ground that controls it is behind the driver side head light. its an entire harness that grounds the turnsignals, headlights, cruse control... i had the same problem and i changed the vss and that wasnt the problem, it was that ground that was out... it will give you the same symptoms as if the vss is out but its the ground harness

                IT WORKS !!! WOO HOO

ok well when I had put in the whole gear thing with the vss I think I snapped the mount that goes to the tranny....I didn't notice this and it speedo didnt work. So anyways after fighting to take out the vss with the gears I also had to take out the good shaft with the good gear and replace it with the original housing (that had the good mount). Once I got everything in and took it for a spin everything is back to normal.

spent about 4+ hours doing this.....it woulda been done in less then 1 hour but breaking the mount and fighting for it to come out took all the time in the world

all I gotta say is DO NOT overtighten the bolt to the tranny.

thanks to everyone with the quick responses
