ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Its not at all...I can get about 215 on the first half of the tank...then about 125 on the rest...definitely not half huh...I am averaging about 23-26 mpg at most.

You do not need to run the tank all the way empty to figure the real mpg...just do the math on the mileage and how many gallons you put in...350mi divided by 14 gallons of gas...I know most of you have passed 4th grade so this is for the rest of you!

thats what i did basically, but inorder to know when i get back to the specific amount of gas that i put in i ran it to empty/when the light came on, that way when i put 14.3 in i know that when i get down to the light again i ahould have gone through those 14.3.

on a side note on this new tank of gas im not doing nearly as well and thats just based upon driving habbits and not conciously focusing on getting good gas mileage, i guess its just that simple

you guys should start using some acetone.

1oz per 10 gallons. add before fill up.

It can improve gas mileage up to 15%.

how are you calculating your mpg?

To do it correctly you need to reset your trip meter after a complete fill up.
Then when you are emply fill up again.
Take the number of miles you drove on your LAST tank and divide by how much gas you just put in.

This will give you a much more accurate calculation of mpg.

That's exactly how I did it all the time. Sometimes, the gas pump will stop before it actually fills up the tank, which leads to a false higher mpg result. But generally, it's accurate, especially if you try more than one times and calculate the average.

I have a 90 lx coupe manual with over 215k milage now. I measured the mpg all the time. It is always around 30mpg, +-2mpg, not matter it's stock everything or having some bolt-ons. I have ebay CAI, ebay 4-2-1 header, 18" exel rim.

From my experience, the CAI does improve mpg, but not much; wide rims does harm mpg, but not much either.

thats how i calculated it, i also have a lx coupe 5spd and am loving the gas mileage, and just having a honda, everthing honda iv owned has been great and the mower i have starts on the first pull even after sitting for months, iv really come to value the engineering or durabality or whatever it is, they got it. i just used a john deere (honda powered) preasure washer last weekend and it ran WAY better then my B and S preasure washer that blew up. for my limited experiance at 21 im not sure i would want to buy anything from any other companies haha

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but My record is 38mpg. 3 people in the car, luggage, and ac on most of the way. at the time i had stock 14's on the car. 185/70/r14. I have a short ram air intake, stock internals, stock manifold, and I had just put my magnaflow cat and cat back exhaust on. (all highway).

I just got back from a trip to canada. i put 16's on my car, same engine setup as before. Recorded 36mpg roughly.

                              I'm setting up a new site. www.boostmpg.org
In it I'm going to record my mpg and my driving habbits, weather, etc. Lots of variables. When I upgrade my car I'll mention it, etc. Its not up yet.. I'll work on it soon though.

Lowest I've ever gotten is like 28 or 29. Still not bad... Though... my engine has 65,000 miles on it :P
