ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

GO Ok i am in the dreadful process of choosing between a JDM H22A1 or a JDM F20B.....i had my heart set on the JDM h22a1 but my idea kind of got downed by a couple of friends of mine. one with a 94 dx civic with a d15b swap and the other with a ls teggy running a b18c...both have intake, headers, exhaust, and ECU upgrades. i will admit that both of those cars are pretty quick. i dont know if they are downing my swap because they are afraid that my Full Swap will tear their cars apart orrr if they really have a point. My full swap will include

    GO

    Jdm H22a1
    CA intake
    Cams
    Headers
    Exhaust
    Chipped ECU
    Light weight flywheel

    For now.....contemplating future FI.....

    SHOW

    NightHawk Black Pearl paint
    JDM Front Bumper w/fogs
Stock 1992 accord ex rims painted black
    "JDM" grille with Accord insert
    "JDM" Blue Ion Projector Headlights.

AS much as it sounds like a pi$$ing contest, i dont really want it to turn into one. I know both motors have their pros and cons and so far i havent read too much about them on here in the swap section except that people would have rathered do the 'H' swap but didnt have the cash so they stuck with the 'F'. Looking for honest opinions with people that have experience with these swaps and open to all suggestions and comments. THANK YOU ALL in advance!!!

hey man, just so you don't get ripped off by the seller, no Japanese engines end with a number like the US engines.

it's only JDM if it says H22A.

i'm pretty sure a civic and an integra are a lot lighter than a cb7 also. the four door DX is probably the lightest of all the available Accord trims since it lacks a lot of the power options that the other trims have.

You really should read more. The F20B is more expensive than the H22. The F22B DOHC is the "F" that many people talk about.

I'll run down the list for you real quick (even though it's been discussed repeatedly in the swaps section).

H22 -190-200hp for a normal one, 220hp for a Euro R or Type S (waste of money, since you can make more power with upgrades to a cheaper "normal" one for less) Good torque, nice powerband, good aftermarket, lots of support.

F22B DOHC - 160hp. A nice upgrade. Can be had for under $1000. Doesn't usually come with a transmission (H22 or H23 transmissions are often used, and must be found seperately). Good for turbo, though most people get the engine with that intention and never follow through.

F20B - Similar to the H22 (the head is pretty much the same). Narrow powerband, higher redline. Not as practical as the H22, but still a fun motor. It was created by Honda to race the Accord in a 2.0L class. The motor had to be a production motor, so they sold them in fairly limited quantities in the Accord SiR. People say that it is a motor designed for racing, so it's better... which is not true. It is a motor designed for racing, under the limitations of the class. For what it is, it's spectacular. However, if Honda could've used the H22 in that class, they would have.

Please read before posting. It is VERY frustrating to those that want to take the time to help you to read "I haven't bothered reading anything about this yet". Nobody likes to spoon feed, and you won't be very welcome here if that is how you do things. I'm going on 5 minutes typing this right now, and I KNOW that I just spent another 5 minutes saying the exact same thing in the swaps section less than a week ago!

      As for your list:

      Jdm H22a1 - JDM H22s are just H22A. H22A1 is USDM.

CA intake - Get a bypass valve, if you value your engine.

Cams - Gonna get a valvetrain to go with them?

Headers - More than one? Gonna keep the rest in your trunk? We only have 1 header. Cheap ones are no better than the JDM stock header. I would go with a Bisimoto piece as soon as they are released. Price should be $600-ish. Well worth it, compared to the $350 DC Sports header that does next to nothing.

Exhaust - Any clue what size piping to get? 2.5" is best.

Chipped ECU - PLEASE learn about this... You don't just get a "chipped ECU". It has to be properly tuned. If you buy a pre-made chip, you are a fool. I'll give you $100 for your H22 when you blow it up.

Light weight flywheel - You might want to upgrade the clutch when you get this. It might be a good idea to drive someone else's car with a light flywheel before you commit... some people don't like the light weight.

As it is, that list is like saying "my plans are: car, wheels, seats, gas, headlights." Spend some time learning. You won't regret it.

i do apologise for not reading every thread that i could find, and i do appreciate the time you took to type up the information that you gave me. and i also apologise for not being so specific to the 'T' about my modifications. i have a CAI on a f22a6 and so far no problem and that w/o a bypass but, i do plan on purchasing one in the near future. as far as the ECU and chipping, haha hell no i dont plan on chipping it myself if i did, i'd GIVE you my h22 free. i plan on getting my ECU professionally tuned. but again thanks. i feel pretty ignorant now and slightly stupid. but i guess everyone has to feel that way from time to time. i

so what company are you buying that H22A from? i hope it's not an Ebay company. please use someone more reliable like Hmotorsonline or tigerjapanese.com who are in canada but have great and competitive prices.

dont worry about deev man. hes a guy with not alot of time and hates seeing the same thread. if you want to know about anything, use the search link. but be specific or it wont find what you need. for instance you dont want to type - what motor is better h22 or f20. you simply type in h22 and search for a good thread with alot of info, same thing for f20. enjoy your stay here, everyone makes mistakes and everyone learns from it.

I don't mind seeing the same thread over and over again... as long as the poster has TRIED to learn on their own. This site has been around for nearly 4 years now, and the amount of information on here is amazing. If you can't find the info you need, and you still have questions, fine. If you find the info and don't understand it, fine. What bothers me is when people clearly haven't taken the time to do any research of their own, yet they expect others to hand them everything.

I'll help anyone who is willing to help themselves (and judging by my last post here... I suppose I'll even help those who are unwilling).

The information is there. Find it. When you DO find it, come back with questions if you still have some. People are MUCH more willing to help when you show a little initiative. I spent about 10 minutes typing that last post. I'm absolutely positive that I spent more time replying to this question than the original poster spent trying to answer it himself.

hmotorsonline.com is the best place around, worth the extra for the added security. You KNOW you're getting a good engine. You KNOW it isn't stolen. You KNOW that the company will be there next week if you have a problem. Just be sure to follow their instructions to the letter (changing everything necessary, like the timing belt, or the warranty is void.)

I've heard decent things about Tiger. They haven't been around as long, nor as popular, but I haven't heard anything really bad about them.

When you're going to buy, call both places (and any others that seem good) and ask about shipping. From CA to NJ, my full swap (motor, trans, ecu, and a ton of other parts I didn't use) was $200 shipped to a shop. I feel that's fairly cheap. Another place MIGHT charge more. Find out beforehand...

Whatever you do, don't consider OsakaJDMmotors, or any of their subsidiaries (and there are a few that are well disguised). They are a Canadian-based company that has the reputation for sending broken motors. I contacted them when I was shopping, and asked them about their reputation... respectfully, I wasn't rude. The reply I got was pretty much "if you don't like us, we don't need your business". They sell mainly to US customers, even though they're based in Canada. Why? Because a legal battle over $2000 isn't worth it when dealing internationally! Stay away from Osaka.
