ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Brake and Front Suspension Qs

Hey guys, I am new here, but appreciate the help. I hope that I can give some help back too. I was putting new brakes on my 92 LX 4DR and a few things happened. Here's my questions:

    1. Passenger side, the rotor came away with the hub and part of the bearing. Part of the bearing stayed in the knuckle. Odds I will need to replace this bearing?

(I used the wagner brake trick to try and change the rotor. I threw some grease in the bearings balls and bolted everything back together - for now.)

    2. Driver side, after torching off the axle hub nut, I was able to get the lower ball joint off. I completely mashed the ball joint stud with my 2-jaw puller. I'll be replacing the lower ball joint. Here's the question - has anyone ever replaced the upper ball joint and reused their upper control arm? Is it safe to replace just the upper ball joint?

    Thanks -- in advance.

Since you are alredy going to go through the trouble and already have it off you might as well and go and replace to ball joint.

People HAVE replaced the upper ball joint, but I wouldn't risk it myself. Pulling out of there puts a bit of strain on the already thin metal, which could cause it to break. I'm currently running new aftermarket upper control arms that came with the ball joints already installed. I got them from a seller named arm_can on ebay. It's been 2 years, and I've had no problems.

It's also a hell of a lot easier to just replace the whole arm

They're pretty painless to remove. Just remove the upper control arm and place it on the edge of a concrete base. Then take a big hammer and give it one big swing and 'pop' it comes out. No damage to UCA and you just need to get another balljoint. This is what people do to install balljoint camber kits.

          ...adjust accordingly

if your replacing the upper ball joint you might as well replace the entire upper control arm. i completely replaced the fount suspension assembly and found that it costs the same for the arm and joint as it does for just the joint.
