ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Performance

I am just wondering how my performance can improve from a f22a
to the h22a....well Duh its a more powerful motor so its obviously gonna
be better...so what kind of time can i expect from a h22 1/4 or 0-60

Does anyone think its worth keeping a f22 and adding mods (cams, headers,
    maybe heads)

h22s i think run mid 15s to high 14's. i prefer f22, since you already have the motor and you just add parts on. a clutch, flywheel, ignition setup off ebay, cold air, full catback, chipped, regrinded cam, port and polish, underdrive pulley, some light wheels, and you should keep up with a h22. btw if you have a auto, convert to 5spd.

I doubt even with those mods that it would be able to keep up with an h22 swapped cb7. It's really up to you. If you're going for NA then I would say swap to an h22, for forced induction (turbo) the f22 is a better platform, although you can still reliably boost an h22. The majority of people who want a faster cb7 do the h22 swap, or boost their f22, and some boost their h22. I don't think there are too many people here who are dissappointed when they swap for an h22

it would be cheaper to mod an f22 to the extent that it would keep up with an h22 if u know where to find parts, whats good, whats cheap etc.

for instance, instead of buying a 300 dollar AEM intake, get an ebay one for 20, and a aem dryflow element for 45. there now u got 235 or something like that to spend on a nice header, exhaust.

f22 has alot of potential tho, dont forget that

The F22 will take major work to reach H22 power output. However, my brother in law managed a 15.9 with his VERY mildly modified F22A1 (aem sri, cheap header, cheap exhaust). He pulled much of the interior, but still had AC and power steering intact. He did it on normal street tires.

My H22 has never been in optimal condition when I ran, but a 15.023 was my best time. Running properly, the H22 in a cb7 should be capable of about a 14.8.

The F22A is a great motor, and Bisimoto makes some fantastic stuff for it (Bisi races with the F22). Still, to get to H22 power, you're going to need to spend some money. Depending on what you want, the H22 is probably the best bet.

However, if you consider going turbo, the F22 is the better motor to do that to. Not only is it much cheaper when somethnig breaks (and things often break with turbo, even when great care is taken), it's also a better design in many ways.

I think you should stick to the F22. Everybody is just swapping to a bigger/better engine. Personally I stick to my F20 and will tune it how far it goes!

It depends on what you want from it. Dropping twice the cost of an H22 into the F22 to make less power makes no sense, unless you have an interest in doing that with the F22 specifically (like Hondafan81). In that case, it's a great project.

If you want easy, reliable power, the H22 is the way to go, hands down.

Factor in turbo, and the F22 is the best route, though.

ok and how about swappin the f22 head for a f22 vtec head and then getting the regrind cam amd get a cam gear underdrive pulley and chipped ecu and a nice h23 aftermarket intake manifold and h23 throttle body??ofcourse the basics intake exhaust would that be a good idea?

the f22a1/4/6 head is superior to the f22b sohc vtec head. if you decide on a head swap go with an h23/f22b dohc non vtec. otherwise go with something like a 272 delta regrind, ihe etc...just depends on your budget and what your goals are, read up in the swaps section for more ideas

Wow, you REALLY need to learn a bit more...

The F22A head flows MUCH better than the F22B1 (F22 VTEC) head. I don't think anyone makes reground cams for the F22B1, and I wouldn't really trust anyone that did. I have no idea what a "cam gear underdrive pulley" is... You combined two unrelated parts. An underdrive crank pulley can be good and bad. I've had no trouble, but they are known to cause problems. Underive pulleys for the accessories are good, as long as you don't have a crazy system draining your battery faster than your underdriven alternator can recharge it. An "aftermarket" H23 intake manifold wouldn't do much better than a normal OEM H23 intake manifold.

You have the right idea, but you need to slow down and learn what all these things do.

H22 can be a Naturally Aspired vtec monster

Cost: $900(if lucky) to $2000 just buying the motor with trans or just long block

                          F22 can be turbo monster

Cost: $1500 (without internals and not reliable) to $3000+ (with block internals but not including major head work)

but these are just around about figures thrown out and they are not exact, especially for the turbo setup...but the things is...for the h22 swap, u have to have all the money in order to do it and it has limitations without doing a stronger rebuild...
but with a turbo f22 project...u can buy the parts piece by piece and the horse power will greatly surpass a h22 swap depending on setup...

but a h22 turbo Vs. a F22 turbo is an interesting matchup....

Besides turbo and a swap, you can get a good header, get some quality headwork, a good camshaft and valvetrain, high compression internals, and a properly tuned ECU.

Check out Hondafan81's Red and White projects... Red is his street car, putting down about 145whp (that's about 170 at the crank, which is how we normally rate engine power). The White project is his all-out project, and I believe he's shooting for 250whp with that one. However, the amount of money, effort, and learning put into these projects is impressive...
