ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    JDM H23 Vtec

Only wanna know How much HP and torque a JDM h23 DOHC Vtec as !!! I saw one for sale near my house and he ask 800$ 150 000 KM
    190-170-175-190 compression

I've check on Hondatech and Saw:
2.3 Liter DOHC VTEC Engine Hydraulic Operated Tranny.

    220hp/163tq/11.0 Compression Ratio.
    8000 RPM Redline.
    5500 RPM Vtec Engagement.
    P5P Ecu.

Can this be... and if yes is it a straight swap !!!!

Is there a way to difference JDM and USDM h23 on a pic ?!?!

This has been discussed at length in the swaps forum.

The H23 VTEC is an OBD2 motor, so there would be additional wiring necessary. It makes decent power, as you can see.... though I've heard it only makes 200hp. I've never seen one in person to compare. The swap should be similar to an OBD2 H22 swap (euro r or type s)

They were automatic only, so there is no corresponding manual transmission.

I have heard two descriptions of the head. First, everyone was saying that it was simply an H22 head. More recently, I have heard that it is a totally different head, and only has VTEC on the intake cam (much like the SOHC F series engines).

It came from the 6th gen wagon and sedan, and it is not a performance motor. The H22 is a better choice, unless you just want to be different!

The one really cool thing is that the cars that it came from were AWD. That is something we have yet to figure out how to install in our cars! I'd deal with an automatic AWD cb7!

So it would be hard to swap and gotta be automatic tranny :\
Here a pic of the engine... Maybe the guy don't know what he tell and it's not a H23 :P
because for 800$ it's good compare to 2500$ that a shop ask me here :\

For $800, it's a good deal... if the motor is good! Go look at it and check the stamp to the left of the header. If it says H23A, then it's probably the real deal.

The swap wouldn't be TOO difficult. Anyone here with an OBD2 swap could help with the wiring, and it's probably already on here somehwere.

It wouldn't HAVE to be automatic... it makes no difference to the motor if it's auto or not. However, there are no manual transmissions with the ideal gearing for that particular powerband. The H22 transmission will probably be the best choice, though the F22 trans will work.

The possibility of VTEC being intake-only bothers me. I don't know for sure if that's true or not.

Finally, the biggest concern would be the ECU. I'm assuming you wouldn't get the proper ECU for that motor, so you'd need to run an H22's P13 most likely... that won't make it run the way it should run, and you could have rich or lean spots (rich is better than lean to an extent) A chipped P28 is what you'd really need, but you'd have to find someone to tune it for you.

And yeah, they aren't ALL AWD, but all the H23 VTEC ones were, weren't they?

H23 VTEC head is similar to the H22 Head. I thought H23 had blue valve covers....It could be he just threw an h22a head on an h23a1 block? I dunno cant really tell with the picture.

                that wud be wicked

the CH9 SiR was 2wd, the CL2 SiR was 4wd

the H23 VTEC is also a peakier engine, with peak torque of 220Nm arriving at a high 5300rpm

and i forgot to mention, the 4wd variant lost another 10PS, so the CL2 only had 190PS..

                poooo.. :P
