ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    DIY lowering woes

So here's the deal. I really, REALLY wanna lower my car myself. The problem is I lowered my DA myself and in the process snapped 2 rusty old bolts and had to drill them out and get new ones at the hardware store and through Honda. I don't have the tools neccesary to drill out frozen bolts anymore and don't wanna be stranded with no car waiting for someone to come along with one. Plus, I can't find a shop that would do it. Talk to me guys.

So what are you trying to say you trying to drop your accord or just sharing a previous experience. Its straightforward. Use six point sockets, breaker bar and youll be set. Hardest part is the allen wrench with the 12 mm or whatever is on the hat. The allen part tends to strip. And have PB blaster handy.

Mazda had some retard in the developement team thinking up this idea, I guess Honda used it too on some models? Luckily I didn't have to deal with it on Rach's car, The struts had the flat spots on the top of the shaft, 92 model..

The best thing to do is avoid actually trying to use an allen if thats what it has, take an old accessory belt, ps belt, what ever... Wrap it around the polished strut shaft and vicegrip or channel lock the shit out of it while you turn the bolt...It works perfectly.. Allen keys are pretty much worthless.. Even brand new bolts still suck with them...

i use vice grps since im changing the strut or vice it at the most upper part to get it out.

i also soak the top bolt with wd40 for a bit over and over again.

if its rusty there always pretreat it with some lube....its also nice to have a torch handy if needed. the reason i know is that i have a 1986 300zx from the snow and on occasion there is rust on bolts.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

I was partially sharing a bad old experience, partially looking for advice. I really wanna do it, I'm just scared to snap something and be stuck without a car, you know?? Have any of you broken bolts on your suspension before?? And thanks for all the ideas guys, and no I don't have a torch or impact tools, I wish I did, or at least knew someone with them to help me out.

I say that as long as you have PB blaster and all the right tools then you will be alright. Don't forget some washers and your front camber kit. I had a DA integra before also and it is the exact same process... Didn't have the same problem as you though. Good luck!

Well then looks like I'll just have to suck it up and do it. Thanks for talkin me into it guys. Now I just need to piece together the money for a camber kit and new shocks/struts.
