ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

i've been changing motor oil ever since i was 7 and i've never had any problems using jacks or supporting the vehicle with stands. well so long as you maintain them, make sure proper fluid level in it, you're going to be alright.
make sure you're raising the car up on a flat level hard surface like a concrete garage floor.

never trust a jack. the only thing holding it up it hydraulic pressure one seal goes and its over for you. Therefore the invention of jackstands. trust the jackstands. Safteys on lifts were created for the same reason. hydraulics are very unreliable.
i got good advice from a teacher. trust your multimeter. if it says it has 11volts. then it has 11volts.
trust your jackstand. if it says 2000 lbs. use two.word...

i think thats a bit of a bold statement. yes cinder blocks are not the strongest but if you turn them sideways ( holes top & bottom ) they cant hold alot of weight. better than nothin!Originally posted by deevergoteI could break cinder blocks with my bare hands at age 12... they won't stop a car from crushing you if your stands fail.
Well any way the piont was to tell him to just pay somebody. like you said 10 mins in and out. if he strips the pan he's f*cked. if they do it then they are.
also dude if your gonna do it anyway( which you prob will ) then make sure the gasket is still on the old filter. if it stays on the engine and you double gasket it, it can seize the engine. i've seen this happen twice!

hey if you don't feel comfortable just go to home depot and but 4 concrete blocks, and place 2 blocks on the side of the cb7 while it's lifted, so just in case anything happens, it should stop to a point to give you enough time to get the hell out of there..and get yourself bigger jack stands,,that hold a heavier car or truck,,you'll be fine,,, just get under there and take a sip of coffee so your heart could be pumping as you look around...later....

yeah if you use jacks stands, putting them on soft ground may scare the heck out of you if it starts to sink while you're under the car. I've also driven one side of the car up on the curb to rise it enough to get under when I was in a hurry. Took like 20 mins for everything. That'll probably be your best option, besides just paying someone.Originally posted by Leungi've been changing motor oil ever since i was 7 and i've never had any problems using jacks or supporting the vehicle with stands. well so long as you maintain them, make sure proper fluid level in it, you're going to be alright.

BTW the drain plug is a 17mm, (EVERYONE READ) and when you remove the old filter make sure the rubber gasket comes off with it or you'll be under there again wondering why your oil is pouring out. I'll seen it happen plenty of times.MR Thread- I brought SEXY back- LOL
If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacement anyway.

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with with experience!!!
