ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Crazy RPM Guage and Stuttering

My car has this really odd problem, after running for about 30 minutes or longer suddenly the RPM guage starts to wack out. For instance I may be cruising in fourth at 45 MPH and suddenly the RPM guage starts to peg out, and fluctuate between all the rpm ranges. Whiles it doing it the car seems to be running fine.

Once this starts happening after I come to a complete stop, and then start to take off any load I attempt to put on the motor the car start bucking, as though it wants to backfire. It does this through all the gears. Power goes down to like 20hp it seems. In second gear I could not get past 15mph.

After the car cools down this issue goes away.

kinda sounds like the igniter going bad.

lets wait on another more experienced member to chime in with their opinion.

Can you buy just the ignitor module or do you just have to replace the entire dizzy?

Another thing I noticed is that during this issue after I turn the car off. It smells like an electrical fire under the hood. But everything looks fine.

            So odd.

Additionally the car is throwing no CEL lights. When I jump the diag connector, and turn to the on position I get a solid Check engine light and that its. Never goes away.

Good lord it turned out to be the stupidest thing. We had changed the thermostat and apparently grabbed the wrong bolt for the ground strap, so it was loose as a goose, on there but just loose.
Used a shorter bolt and we are good to go.

That's the ground wire from the distributor...so that makes sense and gives the same results as a bad igniter or coil.
