ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    3rd Gear Grind

So I just purchased my CB7 today with CB7Lx91 and I absolutely love it. I was a little nervous he would be pissed for buying the same car he has, but at the same time, they are two completely different animals. I bought a 1992 Honda Accord Ex Coupe. It has about 174k miles on it with the F22A6.

However, I was driving it home and I noticed as I shifted into 3rd gear there was a slight grinding.. I have no idea what this means; could someone help me out? It doesn't happen going into any gear but 3rd.

    i got that too.

I think its the syncronizer ring for third gear.
If i remeber correctly i think there is a tsb out on it.

ive had my CB for almost three years now it grinds every once in a while especially dowshifting into third or shiftng too quickly or over 4000 rpm.

its one of those touchy subjects with our cars

I don't think its too serious i want to rebuild my tranny anyway.

I think that you should drain the transmission fluid out and fill it with Honda MTF (manual transmission fluid). once a year drain and refill is reccomended (from me anyway). I believe that the drain refill interval is something like every 10-15k miles. I just do it once a year

That helps with grinding alot. it also makes the transmission shift smoother through the gears

I don't think I've ever heard of CB's NOT doing it. It's pretty common and not really a big deal, just annoying.

so replace synchros? is that an easy job or should I just go ahead and rebuild the whole tranny. I can't say I've really done any transmission work before so any advice or price quotes would be great.. thanks again.

Did you try changing your fluid yet? Yes, it is the synchros but you'd be surprised what a difference new tranny fluid can make. I'd give that a shot before replacing or rebuilding anything.
