ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    low idle?

I just barely put a cold air intake on my f22. before, it idled from 650-750 (i can't remember exactly). Now it idles at 450. Is this normal, or is it bad? If it has any negative effects, what are some ways i could bring my idle up a little?

    The idle adjustment screw.

Bring the engine to normal operating temperature, then remove the connector from the EACV. Check and adjust the idle if necessary.

so what effect does it have while idling at a lower rpm?

The engine consumes slightly less gas I suppose, but these 4 cylinders tend to get the shakes at low rpms.

If it doesn't bother you and it doesn't die then it shouldn't be a problem.

so as far as performance, it won't matter at all?

Okay, so I started my car, let it warm up, then unplugged the EACV connector. The engine shut off, the check engine light turned on, and I wasn't sure how i was supposed to check how much to turn the idle adjustment screw without my tach on. So i plugged the connector back in, turned the car back on, my check engine light turned off, and I just adjusted the screw. Did I hurt anything by not leaving the EACV connector unplugged while adjusting it?

Well, it shouldn't have died, but perhaps its just because the idle was too low. Adjusting it without unplugging the eacv should be fine.

The eacv can control the idle speed via the ecu, so their method of setting it takes that into account.

Just run with it for a while, then let us know if you have any problems.

you can always adjust the 2 nuts that set the throttle cable or simply whack it with a hammer toward the driver's side and that will idle it up a bit

So I haven't had any problems as of yet, I drove it to and from work, and got it up to 95 on the highway on the way back (I didn't want to go faster). It acted exactly the same, so I'm assuming it's okay.

Yeah it may have died because the idle was too low. The adjustment screw was almost all the way in, so i just unscrewed it until it was idling at about 700.

I think there may be something else contributing here though. Perhaps the throttle cable is out of adjustment, or something else is leaking air, but I wouldn't worry about it unless you're actually having problems.
