ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

If you want basic shit you need your basic socket set and screwdrivers. That should cover all of it and make sure its metric.

          ok.. you need a
-philips head screwdriver long and stubby.
-flat head screwdriver long and stubby
-the following sockets in 1/4 and 3/8 : 8mm,10mm,12mm,14mm,17mm,19mm .. both deep and shallow. six point preferred. and also a 10mm in 12 point if you decide to do a clutch job. also a 5/8 spark plug socket.
-1/2 drive ratchet with 14mm,17mm,19mm , and a 36mm axle nut socket. deep and shallow of course.
          - extensions to go with your sockets.. 1",3",6", 2' . a locking 6" extension is good to do spark plugs.
-a pair of needle nose pliers
          -channel locks
          - normal paif of pliers
          -vise grip pliers
          -jack and jack stands.
          - a set of gear wrenches in metric.
          -

I think that is all for now.. LOL.

Get a gear ratchet set... I got one because they the bolt can go through the ratchet. It is good for stuff like your speaker bolts in the rear deck. a lifetime warranty. plus they are really narrow.

                    -1/2, 1/4, and 3/4 ratchets
                    - METRIC size sockets. ive learned far too often that some if not most of the standard size(1/4 socket, 7/8 socket) will only work as a LAST resort.

                    -breaker bar,
                    -Screw drivers(both types)

and a flash light(if your like me and work at night. on my lunch brakes i would work on my car. oil changes, painting, stereo instillation, ect.). but either way still keep a flashlight in the car just in case you find yourself on the side of the road at night and need to fix something simple but cant b/c you dont have a light.

if you go to walmart they have some ratchet sets from Stanley for about $20. ive had them and they work perfectly. NONE of the sockets have been messed up and they get the job done with no issues.

like the man said...a good old fashion breaker bar....also a prybar...and a really good pryer assortment...a good jack...some air tools and air compress(this is a luxary and is not critical but will make the job a lot faster or sometimes a lot harder on you=breaking bolts and threads)

oh be sure to have some jack stands too. it helps alot when your laying under the car and the jack you have is about to collapse. had that happen at one of my meets. a guy hit a sewer drain that was protruding out of the pavement and knocked off his exhasut. he used a stock car jack to left up the car. about 2min later the jack started to bend. good thing 3 of us grabbed his legs and pulled his legs out just as his wheel bout snatched a hair on his head. we all laughed about it afterwards. lol. but when he went back under there, 4 of us took a hold of his legs to be sure it didnt happen again. lol.

jack stands are your best friend my man.
