ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    milling a f22b head

i am doing a vtec swap and want to mill the head.. i need an idea how much milling would be okay. its a f22b1 all stock. i planned on using stock valve springs, unless thats a problem. i want to go some what safe but i think it should be milled a little...any ideas?

also should i do a 3 angle valve job on the head?

why are you doing the b1 head swap? It's weak.

Put the money into the f22a head. You'll get MUCH better results.

As for milling, I wouldn't mill over .03". That's a nice bump in compression too.

i keep hearing that....i know its true. i Want VTEC!!. maybe its not worth it. i thought 15HP would be nice, i have the f22b2, dont want to take the block out cuz its too much work to remove block/tranny. i guess i can swap to the f22a head. i really want a f22 that can keep up with h22's. and o yea its a daily driver and plan to be strictly NA

i understand that. you do relize f22b1 stock has more power than ANY f22a

Only a 5+ difference compared to the F22A6

Plus the VTEC on the F22B1, isn't all that special.

If you care at all about performance potential, do the f22ax motor, not any F22b1/F22b2 motor as the head design is not ideal.

If you're insistent on VTEC, then use your F22 block and do a H22 VTEC head swap, it is the only readily available head WORTH your "VTEC goal". Otherwise, your wasting your time.

However, if you are still against the grain on a F22b1 VTEC NA motor build, more power to you, but do it right! Get that F22b1 head ported well, it needs it bad. Also, replace the stock VTEC cam with a more aggressive one on the high RPM lobes and obviously you will need a new engine management system as stock will not suffice. If you are doing the F22b1 VTEC headswap on a F22ax block in a 90-93 Accord, I've seen it done and you need to watch for timing belt interference on the driver's side fender engine mount, I saw one guy's T-belt smacking the motor mount! It could have been ground down prior to install.

Upgrade to the F22A6 head. Sadly the previous gen had a better engine.

there's wear pads on the ends of the cylinder head where one can measure via depth micrometer.

that will tell you how much is left to be surfaced till it is junked.

3 angle valve job and a backcut on the valve isnt really all that expensive and if the head needs to be freshened then why not?

you can send it to me and ill do it at a regular price even tohugh we would normally charge more. :o

First thing first. Do you have a CB7 or a 5th generation Accord?
If it is a 5th gen, and a 96-97 you will have a hard time with an F22A head considering you would be going from OBD-II -> OBD-I

But if it is a 4th gen, by all means F22A.
