ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    bad braking

when I am going moderatly fast, and then brake hard, it feels like my booster fails. Like when you shut your car off and coast to a stop, and your power steering is off, so is your brake booster. That's the feeling I get when I brake hard. I was told it was a vaccuum leak from the brake booster line. I have a link to a picture of what it supposedly is.

That's the check valve on the red box , the brake booster would be the round thing where the master cylinder is attached to.

I know. I was told that the check valve was leaking. Is that a common problem? Or is that even the problem?

Aright I'll check the dealer for a price on that. It's getting worse, like just now on the way home i was going maybe 10 mph down a hill and they went again. My auto teacher suggested a leak on the...??primary...secondary??...seal of the master cylinder. One leaks internally so you can't see a loss of fluid, and the other leaks externally. I keep mixing them up

Could be the master clyinder or the booster itself. Just from my experience, I have never seen the check valve go bad. Possible.

If your your brakes are hard and it stop slowly , it's your brake booster.

If your brake pedal goes all the way down then it's your master cylinder..

it's called a "hard pedal" and is related to the booster. you can probably hear it hissing if you listen closely.

have you had a bad m/c in the recent past? they can leak into the booster and eat it up from inside out.

I wouldn't know fizzbob, I bought the car last year and just got around to registering it, so all the problems are brand new to me. I'll rip the m/c apart tomorrow in class and check it out.

don't do that, may just ruin a good m/c

with the car idling, listen for a vacuum leak (hiss) outside of the car and inside up under the dash.

normally, these boosters go bad and make a noise under the dash. sounds like it's coming from the rod that goes through the firewall and attaches to the pedal.

yep, I hit the brakes and I hear a hissing under the dash, above my foot. So replacing the booster...funnnn....haha don't ya love saving up for a project and having "fun" things like a blown radiator, a speeding ticket and a bad brake booster take all that saved money from you?
