ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Second Thoughts About Turbo

im having second thoughts about turboing my car now because im hearing the boost is unsafe for the car. i was wondering if anyone out there that has a turbo cb7 can tell me how there car ran and if they know about any cb's that have had messed up motors because of the boost

its only unsafe when you make it unsafe!
going boost can sometimes be hard for those who dont know anything about it!

if you really dig deep in research you will see that you can run a boosted setup safely for a daily driver.

it's all in the tune and the driver!
im sure going boost can make you eager to hit boost constantly
but if your looking for something thats going to last i would suggest running LOW boost.

from my understanding the f/h22-23 can be unfriendly with boost if not done correctly.
its always good to go with ALL supporting mods.

Well, the F22 is a great motor for boost. There are a bunch of people who have boosted with great sucess. But, it was never intended for boost, or to produce that much horsepower, much of the motor can handle high horsepower, but the rods and pistons arent quite up to par. (The ringlands are a weak point.) SO. were i to boost my CB7 i would install some forged rods and pistons and rebuild the motor, and bolt the head down with some ARP headstuds. Then i would build a real turbokit, i would not use a DSM turbo manifold. In short, i would do it right.

If i didnt need my car every day, and if i didnt care about blowing the motor i would do a DSM setup on a fuel riser at 8 psi. Cheap power. But It'll break. (the main mark against stock boosting to me is: These cars are 14+ years old, they have 100, 150, 200k or more miles on them. They just arent in their prime.)

For the cost i cant see doing anything but an H22 swap. It matches my power goals (200ish with quality bolt ons and some cams), will get better gas mileage and requires less mantinence.

Really, to make your accord go fast you have those three options.

        Swap a motor.
        Halfass a turbo and hope.
build the F22. (N/A or boost)

Get into the Performance section to see whats involved and decide what your power/mantinence/reliablity needs/goals are. and then make a decision.

Personally im looking for a 92-95 H22 prelude. If i find a nice one, ill pull the H22, rebuild it, and stick it into my CB7. Then ill build the F22 for boost and put it into the 'lude, which will be totally gutted. That'll be my cheapo racecar (as far as racecars go).

And, i like my CB7, i wouldent want to gut it.

92ex ran his turbo 14b car for a year and a half with no hassle. The only thing he did not do was stay up to maintenance which caused his motor to go to hell. I dunno what hes done to the car now but yea. Anyway as mentioned a good tune and take more care of the car you should be fine. FI needs a lot more care than NA. Most people fail at f22 powered turbos is because they dont make sure there engine is good in the beginning, they run there cars on basemaps and dont get it tuned right, they dont stay up to date on maintenance, or they dunno what they are doing.

This is very true. Proper tuning can keep everything running right. As is building a healthy motor. Ive watched tuned B and D motors lean out and meltdown. My buddy ran a D16 with a used Saab turbo with 225WHP for 2 years with absolutely no problem....he didnt even have an intercooler at first. Point is, if you want to be sure, rebuild with stronger parts. OR swap an engine that is more powerful stock. Hell H22s have their problems stock as well, another friend of mine has an H22 swapped teg that crankwalked.

If you really, really need reliability, the stock f22 is about as good as it gets....just kinda slow

It has to be tuned correctly and dont cheap out on parts...thats my advice, oh yeah and upgrade your clutch, fuel pump and axles and make sure all your seals are in good shapem if not replace them. Get a good radiator and fan too. In other words, there are a ton of things that you might need to replace, but make sure you have a competent tuner
