ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Help Please!

I was heading from school this morning when I started hearing/feeling knocking noises from under my floorboard. At first, I thought I might be having a flat tire so I pulled over to a nearby gas station to check. The tire was alittle deflated so I pumped it up and continued to go home. All was good for about a mile until i started seeing other cars around me move away from my car. All I could think about was they know something I don't. The knocking noise was back and I could hear the driver-side front tire thumping as if I had a flat again. I drive off the highway on the next exit and check my tire again. It's fine. I'm at the library right now because my house is still a good distance away and the place where I take my car to get fixed is just as far.

I searched around to see if someone had a similar problem and came across this thread http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...knocking+noise . It doesn't sound like my tire. I can feel and hear exactly where the knocking is coming from. If I put my foot between the brake petal and the place where you rest your left foot on, you can feel it. I don't feel/hear anything when first pulling off but when I slow down, I can really feel/hear it.

Any suggestions on what it might be?

    Thanks!

you could check if the bolts are lose on the wheel or the screws that the bolt go into broke or maybe the tire popped from the inside its sounds weird but change the tire with the spare and check if the problem continues the last one happened to me once so try them

tighten lug nuts as mentioned, and while down there maybe take a look at your CV joint/boot area

is the boot the plastic area behind the brakes?

i jacked it up, removed the tire and checked. all bolts are fine but what i'm assuming is the boot, the one on the driver side is torn up

Are you lowered? Check the INSIDE of your tire to make sure that's good. If you're lowered and never got the camber corrected or your wheels aligned, you might be riding on belts on the inside, even though the outside looks fine.

Check the ball joints as well.

Are you sure it's part of the suspension/rolling assembly? Does it only happen when rolling, or does it happen at idle? If it happens at idle, it's an engine issue. Everything is connected, so though you may feel it in the floor at that place, it may not be near it at all.

Nooo. I'm still ALL stock. It's fine when I'm idled but when I start rolling, it knocks under my feet. Even when I dont push the gas and let it move on it own, it does it. I checked the tire and it's looking fine. It does sound like It might be a rolling assembly issue. I'm glad it's the weekend now. I can walk to work and figure out what's wrong with it. Hopefully it won't be something too expensive if I have to take it to the shop.

Jack the car up and pull on the wheel at 6 and 12 o'clock. If there's any play, your wheel bearing needs to be replaced.

Remove the wheel. Make sure all the studs are intact, and that all the lugnuts were properly tightened. Inspect the tire for any sign of defects.

Inspect the lower ball joints for cracked boots. Inspect the upper ball joints for the same. Make sure your tie rod end boots are not cracked (though you would probably feel any tie rod issues in the steering wheel before you felt it in the floor). Make sure your sway bar bushings are good, and that the bar isn't flopping around. Look at the upper control arm anchor bolts and make sure the rubber isn't ripped, and that the bolts are all tight.

That's really all I can think of that would possibly cause an issue down there. You might as well check the brakes over as well... though rotor warpage that would affect normal driving would be VERY noticeable under braking!

You see this could be your problem. A bad axle can knock and grind while driving if it is no good or if the boot is torn and all the grease leaked out.

Oh yeah, axles. Yeah, a bad axle will make noise, especially when turning.

Oh yeah, that driver's side is done for. Change that quick before it really becomes dangerous! (well, it may already be!) I've been running remanufactured axles from Napa and Autozone with no problems whatsoever... with much more power going down than you! $75 a side... might as well get both sides done while you're at it. The other side will go eventually anyway.
