ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Acceleration Problem

Hey Guys got a problem... On last Tuesday I asked a friend where was this oil leak coming from. He said I should change the O-ring in the distributor. SO on Saturday I did without any problems until I started to drive my CB7. When starting out at a stop light or a complete stop I have to press the accel. hard to get it to actually move to the same speed of traffic. Once it starts then if I want to accel. faster I have to press it hard again just to change gears. Can someone help me out?

Sounds like you are out of time. Did you set the ignition timing?

Your ignition timing is probably WAY off. Get a timing light and correct it. It's quite easy to do. If you don't you could do some damage to your car.

Might be better to just see if a local mechanic will set the timing for $10 or $15, unless you think you'll use the gun enough to justify buying one. Or if a local friend or CB7Tuner can help you out.

.002 seconds on Google gave me the answer...

You pull the little rubber cap on your transmission housing, put the red wire on the #1 sparkplug wire, ground the black wire, then aim the gun in the hole. It flashes a strobe with your ignition pulse. You can then use the markings on your flywheel to set the timing by adjusting the distributor. There are 3 lines... the larger center line marks 15 degrees, which is standard. The two smaller lines on each side are 13 and 17. They mark the factory limits. As long as you're within those 2 lines, you're safe. You can play with the timing within that range to move your powerband around a bit. Advanced timing (towards 17) will give you a little more top end. Retarded timing will give you some more low end. Timing that is well past those parameters will cause lousy performance at best, and engine damage at worst (extremely advanced timing can cause detonation). It sounds to me that your timing is insanely retarded.
