Took a j/y trip last weekend and there was a h22a1 in seemingly decent condition, sitting in a 'lude. Motor hasn't been touched in the month that it has been there. Cluster is gone and didn't ask how many miles were on it. Shortly after the holidays I will have the funds necessary to go out there and pull the head to see what condition the bottom end is in. Seeing as this motor was far from an option before I ran into it I know very little about it but I have been doing some research. I was just wondering if I do pull this motor and trans what I should look out for. I plan to refresh the bottom end either way. Anyways, plan on taking the engine harness, mounts, long block, transmission and if the ecu is still there, I will need that. Although I have a p28 sitting around. If I decide to put this motor in my CB, I realize I need to do some modification for the auto to 5speed swap before hand. Also, how will the motor sit in my car? Will I need to do something to the axels or can I take the existing from the 'lude? Any necessary help will be appreciated.

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

There are detailed H22 swap instructions in the Swaps forum.
If you're going to refresh the motor anyway, get it. If you pull the head first (be sure you know HOW to pull a head without warping it), just check it over for abnormal signs... bent valves, heavy carbon deposits, scorching.
Also, was the car modified? What was done to the car will give you an idea of how it was driven. Stock intake, header, and exhaust will suggest that it was probably not beaten to death. Mods to any of those areas, and it was probably owned by someone that drove it hard.
I wouldn't expect it to have less than 100k on it.

The swap does not worry me aside from the axels. I will look it over again. The only reason I have taken it into consideration is that it is completely stock. Only noticeable tampering was a short throw shifter. Any idea how much I should offer? I would like to get everything necessary for the swap for $5-800. The guys who run this place are more concerned with Domestic and seem to let me and my import happy friends walk away with some good stuff.

$500, I'd say. Maybe even less. You don't know the mileage, you don't even know if it runs. No cluster, it's a risk.... Lowball em.
My short shifter was really notchy... not sure if it contributed to the wear of my synchronizers or not... but my transmission grinds in 3rd occasionally, and 5th all the time. A short shifter indicates some sort of performance-interested driver, so the motor may have been run hard. Regardless, it's still a good buy if you can get it cheap. A FULL rebuild would still be less than a JDM one from a reputable importer, if you can do most of the work yourself.
And the Accord axles will work. Prelude ones are too long. You have to tap the transmission once and use the Accord mount. Power steering and AC will need some creativity to get them working (not hard, but not a direct swap). Wiring isn't difficult, and the DIYs show it clearly.

Awesome, that's the kind of help I would expect. If anyone else can offer anything further that's cool. If for some reason I can set some money aside earlier and get this on an engine stand I will. Won't keep my hopes up though. Once I get it, theory will begin. And another tired a6 will be available for parts.

There is a DSM turbo out there and the infamous bonehead who took his waste gate off his SRT4 and blew a rod straight through the block. Never seen anything like it. There is even a complete b21 out there. But back on topic, would a bore like .50mm be ok? Or could it be honed to that? I would like to run forged pistons unless they expand to much.
