ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Upgrading manual transmission fluid (and others)

I like to use improved and upgraded fluids...and I know honda has SPECIFIC p/s fluid and specific manual tranny fluid (I don't have an auto so...sorry)

I would really like to upgrade my manual tranny fluid to something better than Honda's. Maybe something that protects as well but is a lower viscosity...if possible.

p/s is another issue...not everyplace sells honda p/s fluid...I know in most cars you can replace the p/s fluid with auto tranny fluid...and even synthetic auto is better...but what about honda? Can I put auto in the p/s? I'm assuming I could put synthetic in there...but I'll just stick with honda grade...especially until I know for sure.

WHAT makes honda p/s fluid so special specifically? What's the difference?
Can I replace my manual tranny fluid with something different? perhaps synthetic manual oil?

I've always used 100% pennzoil synchromesh (supposedly equal to GM synchromesh - I just didn't want to step foot in a GM dealer to get it lol) in all of my Honda manual trannies with no problems, it actually has smoothed out all of them. I recommend it.

As far as P/S fluid goes, I know for some reason, Honda's do require a special fluid, and I know they do make aftermarket fluids for it. But if you are looking for the best, in this category, I'd honestly stick with Honda fluid. Usually the aftermarket versions are just cheaper. I'm not even sure if the Valvoline will work?

Supposedly the new Honda MTF is better.
I liked half Honda and half RoyalPurple SyncroMax (syncros worked a bit better than Honda MTF alone). SyncroMax is fairly thin. Now using half Honda and half Amsoil MTF. Its one of the thicker (thickest I believe) MTFs, but so far its been fine to 20F, lowest I've seen so far this winter. Shifts are still good (for 165k miles lol) and MPGs have been great.

LubeGard makes a fluid (4 oz bottle) that converts any PS fluid to Honda spec PS fluid. Not sure how much I'd trust it but I used it since I had to use some Maxlife PS fluid, so I just wanted to be sure. Otherwise I just stick to the Honda stuff. Also added a filter inline with the cooler.

For engine I've been using synthetic I've been getting on sale and clearance since I got the CB (2.5 years). Been using Napa Gold 1356 filter.
