ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I bead put about a 3mm layer on there.

Mate it to the surface and don't torque it down all the way. I wait a few hours, then torque it down. Wait at least 12 hours before you start the engine.

A pain in the ass because you have to wait, but it's worked flawlessly for me.

we had the permatex rep, come and talk to us about their product, everyone uses their product, hondabond is permatex, you have to follow some rigorous steps for it to be effective, but it should work right if done right

Thats probably why, i put a film on the gasket, torqued it and went, cause thats what i was told to do, if i have to let it sit, its gonna have to wait till the weekend... But being a rubber gasket, doesnt this stuff just burn away cause the header gets so hot, or does the copper somehow take the heat instead of the rubber.. i dont understnad this stuff and the permatex black RTV, i know the black is oil resistant made for oil pans, seals, and valve covers.. but the copper stuff is just... wierd.

I don't know how it works, I just know it does.

Mine was still present after I took the header off once.

wow, thats a great tip. Gaskets were the only thing I was worried about. I asked a few people abou the flex pipe lengths... nobody has gotten back to me. Though I think the megan pipe is longest. Looks like Megan is the way to go.

                Great tips though! thanks all!

well i know this thread is about megan vs obx, but I've had my DC sports header for years and not once have i had to replace the gasket, i've probably taken it off twice or three times and it still seals. Maybe its b/c its a round crush gasket that seals each individual hole? idk, but all i know is i bought my DC header brand new for 225 shipped and it's worked flawlessly.

                    PS, i can't believe this Thread has 54 replies...lol
