ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Yeah more automatic tranny questions

    Hi all i have a 92 Cb9 wagon.

Man got to love honda auto trannys.

    It loves to whine. shudder.

    But my questions are..

How to stop it from shifting late?? it shifts hard at 3to 4k in allmost all gears.

ive allready drained the fluid and replaced it. it made it a little better but not great.

Is the wagon tranny different from the 4dr or 2dr auto tranny...

I may just buy a replacement if mine cannot be fixed......

Also when i put the car in reverse the car throws a fit... (Shakes real bad).

    any sugestions??

Older CB7 tranny's are notorious for shifting hard. Are you running the genuine Honda fluid or another type? I hear that the stuff from Honda shifts smoother.

Unfortunately, it's a trait of these transmission to shift hard. From the research I've done, it's just the way it is. It doesn't imply a fault.

I drained and refilled mine with the Genuine Honda fluid and it helped a little. I'd like to drain and refill again soon just to get more of the old fluid out.

                auto tranny

for higer rpms i just use the 1-4 selection on my trany instead of d4 but ony when racing or speedin but as far a the hard shifting to me mean the car is jumping hard between shifts .......cuz if so it might be the engine mounts u should inspect them for wear...but i dont know to much about the fulid stuff but my accord cam from the dealer so im pretty shure i have that honda fluid ...as far as the revese get it check out by a tranny shop

Shaking and vibrations are usually related to mounts. Your mounts are old, so they are very likely to be worn. Did you check the rear mount?

The transmission normally shifts fairly hard. That's actually a good thing. Not TOO hard, that would indicate something wrong, but a bump is good.

When it shifts at 3-4, does it do this ALL the time, or just when you're accelerating harder? The more gas you give it, the later it will shift if everything is working properly.

The 92 has no sport button. That was a useless 90-91 feature, though it WOULD explain what's happening. I wonder if maybe your TCU was replaced with a 90-91 unit... I'm not sure what that would do, but perhaps the way things are set up, it's permanently in sport mode? Just reaching on that one...

You've changed the fluids (Honda stuff is best, glad you're going that route...). Change the mounts and the TCU and see if it fixes things.

Also, manually shifting an automatic transmission is a STUPID idea. Many people have run on the track and proven that the car is no faster by doing so as well...

Some accords are equiped with a sport shift button on the shift knob, it raises the shift points from like 3,500 to 4,500 or so and makes the car accelerate a little bit faster. I think it's only on the 90-91 coupes. I love that button though .

90-91 EVERYTHING had the sport mode... and it's worthless.

I beg to differ sometimes when you want to accelerate fast the tcu wont let it go into 1st for very long , atleast with my car, and I place it in first power brake till 2Kish and then up shiftonce.
