Ebay Headers , Don't Fit!!! Help

Hiya...


Okay so im from Australia Sydney, so its EXtremely hard to source parts for CB7, about 6 months ago i purchased cheap cheap headers on ebay... but im getting more and more troubles with them as time passes..

The initial problem was that they did not even fit my car.. im not sure if its because its AUDM, but the the A/C gets in the way of the fourth extracting pipe. (Picture four pipes for the headers, left to right 1-2-3-4,). So i ended up putting a slight ding in the pipe to make room for me A/C pipe (which is solid).

The headers i got are exactly the same as the following

I wanted to know is this common for the USDM as well, ( im guessing not, since soo many members here have headers).. So this is my question although i've seen engine bay pictures of your USDM CB7's they look identical to our AUDM CB7's.. Then how come your A/C piping does not get in the way?


Will getting headers like the ones in the following link.Solve my problem?

But further investigating the engine bay, it looks like if i get those headers above, the front engine mount will get in the way?

EDIT 2: These are pictures of my stock headers, ( are these what are known as F22a6 headers? Are these better then cheap cheap ebay headers?) I'm asking because these headers, came standard with all CB7's in AUST, but it sounds like it only came with the higher range models in US?

When I bought my Ebay header and put it on. My front motor mount got in the way. Its still in the way. We had to take the Stud out of the top of the motor mount and cut about half of an inch off and put it back on. We did this because the bolt was pushing the wall of the pipe in. So i to have a small "dent" in mine. But yes, my front motor mount does hit.

I dont know much about the AUDM engines. but they should be the same.

i bought a ebay header too and the a/c pipe was in the way.

i had the a/c system drained, than i took the fitting and bent it SLIGHTLY! to make it fit and it barely fits. ill get pics later for ya

becareful bending it cuz u might crack it and have it depressurize(if not u shouldnt be working on n e thing around the a/c system)

yeah, i'll get a pic asap of it. Mine is similar to that one. Mine is Cheap ceramic coated BS. But i'll try and get you a pic of it tomorrow.

ac line is in the way. mine was in the way too so I just broke the front line in order to install it

Yep, my car is right hand drive...the specs are almost identical to the JDM ones..

had the same problem with my first header where 4 runs over to 1 so i bought another header where 1 runs over to 4 here's a pic of it

To the OP:

The negligible gain you get from a cheapie eBay header isn't worth the labor to modify everything to make it fit. Stick with your A6 header, or pick up an F22A4 header from a 1990-91 EX model. It's a tubular 4-2-1 design much like the eBay ones, but as a stock piece, you'll have no fitment issues.

I bent my ac line, works fine, i have a 1/8th inch gap in the line and the header, no leaks yet.

AC line is always gonna be in the way. You can loosen the compressor bolts to where the compressor and line will tilt forward a bit and the header will go on. It should fit as long as the bolt pattern is right on the head.
