ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    my second trip

    ok, here is my deal:

i own a 1992 accord ex sedan with the previous mod's listed. i make good money and i was going to sell it and buy a IS 300 for a performance upgrade. now i am thinking about just putting some money ($2000-3000) into my honda and keeping it. the question is how much better can i make my car perform and what are the best ways in doing so for speed, handling, braking. does anyone know of a computer chip rebuild option or swap? what kind of throtle increase and hp increase can i get for the upgrade. thanks again.

i'd imagine for that kind of money you're willing to spend, nothing like the H22A like a lot of the people on here have for power, mate that with the LSD tranny. upgrade your brakes to the wagon type or i just found out the Acura Vigor front brakes bolt right in which are similar in size to the wagons for good stopping power.

      modifications to this point:
      -eibach prokit springs
      -gr9 kyb shocks

      performance mods wanted:
      1. which cold air intake is suggested (with ABS)?
      2. secondly, is there is an exhaust system out there without a catalatic convertor i can buy?
      3. what type of headers are recomended, brand name, type of material etc?
      4. which sway bars are recommended?

      ....here is my ideas.

1.www.nopionline.com has intakes for cheap and they have good filters.
2.buy a "high flow" cat. also check nopi online they have the "number 1" products exhaust and intakes are good.
      3.greddy or dc
      4.suspension tech

now for this question i also would say get an h22a check out www.tigerjapanese.com they have the full 5spd swap for 1700.

      brakes...who cares about stopping

suspension...ditch the springs and shocks and get coilovers. mess with them until you find the settings you like
sway bars and strut tower bars.

that will give you a pretty enjoyable car!

well the IS will be nicer....and brake better, b/c its a Luxury Lexus that's sporty, good combo. But as for power i think it has like 215 hp 3.0 liter V6 so lots of torque and modification potential.

The engine in the IS300 is an inline 6, not a V6.

As mentioned by others, an H22A is a relatively easy and inexpensive upgrade for the CB7. For roughly $1700, you're looking at about 170hp at the wheels, which is about a 50-70whp increase over the stock engine, depending on trim level. For brakes, I'd recommend simply putting in new pads, and new rotors if it needs them, as well as upgrading to a good set of stainless brake lines to minimize brake fade. Ditch the spring/shock combo and get yourself a quality set of coilovers, such as Megan, K-Sport or Function & Form. Add some upgraded swaybars and a nice sticky set of tires and you'll be able to hang with any IS on the road for a hell of a lot less money, and get better fuel mileage to boot.

            1. which cold air intake is suggested (with ABS)? Any that will fit. Just make sure it comes with a high quality filter.
            2. secondly, is there is an exhaust system out there without a catalatic convertor i can buy? Aftermarket exhaust systems don't come with the catalytic converter, hence the term "cat-back exhaust." Get a 2.5" stainless system and a real, honest high-flow cat, such as a Magnaflow. I mean seriously, are you really concerned over the loss of 1hp you'll see by running a catalytic converter?
            3. what type of headers are recomended, brand name, type of material etc? Megan, OBX, DC Sports. Or Bisimoto, if you're OK with spending a healthy chunk of change and getting what you pay for. Look for stainless or ceramic coated.
            4. which sway bars are recommended? Progress makes a good rear sway bar, and Suspension Techniques and Intrax both make high quality front & rear bars.
