Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

93 10 anniversary. looking to mod for max MPG

Well some of the name brands especially for CAI and SRI are overpriced for our cars. For a header I would say either Megan Racing or DC. For the intake you can get a generic one off Ebay for a good price and throw on a K&N filter on it. For you exhaust there are a number of good brands to choose from. Apexi, Magnaflow, Greddy just to name a few. As for better MPG I would suggest doing some regular maintenance. Check your plugs, wires. cap and rotor.

yup the best way to gain fuel economy on something with higher miles is to keep up on the maintenance, other then that its hard to really get a noticeable difference as far as modding goes,i guess a few miles a gallon can be had as far as an intake is concerned, but not too muchLost Motion Inc. I would keep stock everything. Simply do a full tune-up.
- air filter
- spark plugs
- plug wires, if needed
- distributor cap & rotor
- fuel filter
I would run some seafoam through your motor and/or clean your throttle-body plate. Clean your EGR ports out. Set your fast idle thermo valve, if it is acting up. Throw some fuel system cleaner/water remover in your gas tank. Make sure your oxygen sensor is working properly and your cat. converter is not plugged up.
A healthy stock 90-93 Accord should be getting 28+ MPG.

In my experience, most bolt-on mods seem to result in a decrease in fuel economy. I don't know if it's due to the increased airflow to the engine (the ECU sees more oxygen and dumps more fuel... that's one theory), if it's due to the shift in the powerband (such mods usually decrease low-end power and raise upper-RPM power, meaning you rev higher), or simply because people tend to drive with a heavier foot in a modified car. I was getting about 24mpg with my current setup, until I had my ECU tuned. Now I get 28-32, depending on how I drive.
As HondaFan81 said, your best bet is to do a full tune up. If you want to modify and keep good MPG, look into getting the ECU professionally tuned (which, in the end, will probably cost more than the overall fuel savings...

I used seafoam, for those of you that are sceptics... it worked for me. I poored one 16 oz. can directly into the crankcase and another 16 oz. went straight into my gas tank.Originally posted by HondaFan81...I would run some seafoam through your motor....

Now, I don't know how much my cb gets per gallon of gas, but I can telll you that a full tank instead of giving me my usual 280 mile range now gives me about 305 to 308 miles depending on how bright I'm willing to let the gas light shine.

thanks for all the feedback, currently i'm getting about 25 MPG, i bought the car this past july and have only been changing the oil, the engine was currently rebuilt so it should be in tip top shape. is there anything special i should know about this specific model? its a 10th anniversary edition 2.2 engine. I'll try and post pics later. CAUTION: it is bone stock

Wow, nice and clean, for both of them! I'm a CB7 and GM owner myself (02 GTP is my other car).
ALL US CB7s were 2.2L. You have the 125hp F22A1 (which can see a bit of a power increase using the ECU and intake manifold from the F22A6... the 92-93 EX motor). The 10th anniversary edition marks the 10th anniversary of the Accord's production in the US. They are all automatic, and they have those nifty 6 spoke alloy wheels that I had to pay for
They also have painted side moldings, an uncommon thing.

I tried Seafoam on my car. It used to get about 250 per tank now it get a little over 300 per tank. I am planning on doing a tune up with an O2 sensor very soon. Check back with me and I will let you know how it does after that.
If you modify the cars system, I do agree that the computer may just use more fuel. I had an intake on my old GSR. I didn't like it at all. It felt like my car would choke at higher RPM's. I got a K&N filter and it made a world of difference. The car ran better through out the entire RPM range. There's a reason why Spoon and other Honda tuners use the stock intake pipe with a K&N. The plastic wont absord as much heat from the engine and those deliver a colder/denser air. Just my two cents from my experience. Try and see what works for you.

No ones said tire pressure. Thats a big killer too.
I only have i/e and im averaging anywhere from as low as 20 to as high as 24 MPG. Id love to see 28+ MPG!
Seafoam is good but only if you have lower mileage. Im pushing 230k so...I usually just keep on top of my filters, plugs/wires, tire pressure and sometimes ill do the speed limit just to save some gas, lol.
