Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Shaking and right pull

Ok my issue has crossed the line.

Once above 55MPH my steering wheel shakes , well not that bad but it shakes. Once I go past 70MPH it goes away. Also my car keeps pulling to the right.

    What I've done so far.

    - New springs
    - New shocks
    - New upper control arms and balljoints
    - New wheel bearings
    - New lower balljoints
    - New outer tie rod ends
    - Balanced tires with wear equal
    - Rims are not damaged nor bent
    - Alignment complete
    - New brake discs with equal pad wear

Only thing untouched are the inner tie rods that are in the steering rack. Also my axels have not been touched since I don't know when. The axles looks good and does not do the clicking noise.

    What do you guys think?

ive got the same thing. check rack and pinion and system...?

edit: does it do this all the time? does the feedback in the steering wheel ever change...feel loose/tight almost like its the road...also what about camber adjustment/toe?

Hmm possibly , I have check all things suspension related and nothing is bad among them. I'm suspecting that the steering rack is culprit or its tie rods. Just not sure about it.

I also hear a small click on the steering column when I turn.

It feels a little bit tight because it pulls to the right so I have to counter it. The toe adjustments are up to spec.

is your camber up to spec?

does your steering wheel feedback ever feel diminished or easier to turn on the highway?

care to elaborate on the sound/speed/frequency of this click in the steering column?

I only hear the click sound on the steering column when I back on my driveway then turn it. It sound like you're tapping a thick piece of plastic. Sometimes I hear it , sometimes I don't.

Freeway turns are not bad at all. Drives like a normal car.

so your steering wheel maintains the same feedback 'pressure' all the time?

ur rim might be distorted...most of the time its hard to tell by looking at it the only way to check is to spin your wheel on a balancing machine and see if it wobbles

My camber is up to spec. I always get an alignment and not once my camber is not to spec.

Yes , the steering maintains same feedback. It only feels tight when straight because it pulls to th right. But on turns , it's cake.

Tires were recently balanced and showed no signs of wobbleness.

there is another thing that could be it, once some one in the city of charleston neglected to cover the manhole they openned and i ran my dad's cb over it coming back from work one night lol and broke some belt or something inside the tire and it caused a buldge in the tire, and made it do the same thing as yours, i guess check for buldges.......as wrong as that sounds

yeah that thump or whatever sound you hear when you turn the wheel could be related to the shackle that holds the R&P on. A long time ago I had a mechanic rotate the bushing so the worn side was ontop and the new side was getting squeezed, so it basically filled that loose void, and that took care of it. But as for the shaking on the freeway. Mine does that too, and I know that my rack is pretty much shot, both boots torn, leaking every month it goes from upper to lower on the reservoir w/ fluid loss.

So I'm thinking that your shaking could be from your R&P and here's why: Since it uses pressure to move the tie rods, could it be that it isn't supplying enough (since there's a leak) causing the wheels/tires to be slightly cocked and not track straight? what I think is wrong w/ mine, I mean it HAS to be the rack, thats the only thing that's original on my car...I've replaced everything like you have: upper control arms w/ balljoints, LBJs, tires/wheels have 5 K and are balanced, alignment done 3 mo. ago, etc. I'm feeling you man, I hate when problems like this come up, but a new rack is like 500 w/ labor and an alignment. So you'd kinda have to save up for that.

Well rack and pinion is still in good shape from what I see. No ripped boots & no leaks. Probably some loose bolt or something. Damn $500? Since I don't go on the freeway much , I'd skip that and that $500 will go to my CL-S fund.
