Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Cruise Control---HELP!

On Wednesday, after a very stressful morning I got in my car to drive back to school (about 100 miles) and got on the highway got it up to about 75mph and went to put the cruise control on. However, once I got it up to speed the button next to the column had a green light and when I set it there cruise control light on the dash came on. When I let my foot off the gas it dropped back down into the 30s. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It eventually ended up working but I want to get it looked at before I sell it. Please help!

Yeah it happens over time. an easy fix. btw, the cruise control unit is on the right side of your engine bay (when facing it). It's towards the front of the car with a long cable comign from it to the firewall. It's kind of circular-ish

As an addition to that, it's about the size of a softball, mostly black plastic. It's right next to where the windshield washer fluid tube is.

Also, check the plug that goes into it. I know after my swap one of the wires that goes into the plug slipped back out of the plug, so the light would come on and stuff but wouldn't work. I had to go through all my vacuum hoses about 4 times before I noticed it.

haha just searched member's rides for engine pics with a good showing of the cruise control. And yours was the best i could find in 8 minutes lol.

But shouldn't she rule out a blown fuse since her problem is intermittent? If it was blown then it would never work

Yeah, if the fuse was out then I don't think the light would come on. It's probably a vacuum leak somewhere. The way I check is just unplug both ends, put my finger over one end and suck into the other. if it doesn't hold, I've found the problem. There is also a check valve right next to the CC vacuum tank, which, when you unplug it, should suck in air.

I still think you won't find anything with the fuses, because the CC light turns on in the dash. I'd say it is vacuum.

                      Good luck.

I didn't see anything missing or wrong with it. I just hope everything that we worked on with your CB this weekend holds up. Hopefully wherever you took it for an oil change last time were just too dumb to check the coolant and not a radiator leak. Just keep an eye out for any puddles under the car in the morning. Probably wouldn't hurt to check the coolant level again after you drive it more. Later
