Hey guys, I just test drove a 1993 EX sedan today, and I had a bit of a brake problem. BTW it's standard.
When I would start accelerating - just regular accelerating, not burning rubber or nothing - it felt fine, but I heard a scratching type sound coming from under the passenger dashboard/glove box area. It was faint in a way, by no means was it loud, and it only occurred when accelerating. When I would get to a constant speed - say 25 mph - the sound would dissipate. It only came from under the passenger side dashboard/glove box area.
Also, I have a feeling this ties into the noise, when I would come to a casual stop - again, not stomping on the brakes, just easing to a stop - the pedal would pulse until I was completely stopped, and the abs light eventually came on. I didn't know if an abs light could be treated as a cel, and if I crossed that plug under the dash I would get a code or not, so I didn't.
Any idea as to what may be the problem? I heard that it could just be the abs system cycling pretty loud...but I have no idea. When I came to a casual stop and the pedal pulsed, the wheels weren't locking up, they were just slowing down. The guys that own the car said they had never felt that before (yeah right), so they had no advice for me.
TIA,
Andy
Also...kind of off topic, but i put new brakes on my 91 lx, and was wondering if the entire front control arm could be swapped into the 93 ex, so I could skip having to press out the rotors again. Just wondering if the abs sensor would get in the way.
