Resonator ?

I have 421 headers, downpipe Test pipe and Magnaflow Catback. all Stainless. Its not quite as loud as i would like it. I noticed that the Magnaflow came with a small resonator. If i removed the resonator and flanges a piece of stainless back up and did it correctly would it be alot louder. Because i was considering buying a N1 Muffler but i figured i'd ask before i bought it. I like the sound of my magnaflow but i want it louder, im never anywhere near cops and im an exhaust junkie. so yeah.

Louder and sound like crap. A resonator is there for a reason.

Resonators make your car sound "deeper" rather than quieter. Without a resonator it will have that "tuna-can/chainsaw" high pitch annoying noise.

If you wanna be loud, get a side exit dump valve. There are automatic ones you can open and close with the touch of a button. The butterfly gate works like a throttle body.

if you just want the current sound louder...alter your muffler. but even with that...you'll hit some rasp if you go too big of a fart can.

try a design like magnaflow or other squarish types I mean

The resonator really does help to cut out rasp...A LOT

On the side of sound and loudness...I know you like it and that it's your car...but what is the point of it being louder? It sounds nice as is...louder isn't better

You could always remove the muffler! Or get a BIG N1 style fart can off Ebay and remove the resonator.

ok seriously...not sure what the attraction is with disgustingly loud and noxious exhaust systems, I only had one because I didn't realize what it really sounded like outside the car.

Keep in mind...in car sound is WAY different then out of car sound.

Have you heard you car from a drive by point of view...ie. you sit on a curb while a buddy drives past you/away from you under wot and cruise? same with highway?

If it sounds fine outside car and you just want it louder in the car...then you want to remove insulation materials...it will make a HELL of a lot of difference in the car...but it can easily ruin your hearing too.

Ive got 2.5" piping, cat-back with no resonators and a pretty big muffler. Maybe, if youre close enough, we could trade, lol.

What type of MagnaFlow set-up are you using? Like product name/number?

Yes that will work too, removing the back seat and everything from the trunk will make it loud

On an NA setup that will sound like complete shit and be obnoxious. How do I know? Because I have heard it before on a civic. He was doing like 50 and sounded like he was doing 80. That buzzing noise was annoying as fuck. Wanted to run the fucker off the road thats how annoying it was. I have an ebay n1 canister but my shit sounds good dont deny it.

1. magnaflow muffler, stock piping
2. another magnaflow muffler with custom 2.25"
3. same custom piping with a twin loop muffler
4. Apexi WS1
5. custom piping with stock ex muffler
6. custom piping with a Greddy Evo axleback

out of all, i like my current setup, nice 5" tip, loud but no rasp.

Well there are two things. !. obnoxious loud or 2. Loud but done properly. A v8 on dumps sounds a lot better than a fart can anyday but yea some 4 bangers can be done right but thats very very rare.

i usually direct people towards a used rsr setup. broken in so it is a little bit louder than when new.

A little more $$ but well worth it
Then to find out my car didn't have a resonator (for some reason)
The muffler sounds nice and deep, but it sounds like a fart can...and that was NOT my goal
I know a resonator would fix all of this.

My question is, how big of a resonator should someone get?
I've seen 4 footers!
