    Engine mount question

I recently realized that my front mount was torn to crap. I should have figured there was an engine mount problem with the quick failure of my CV shafts, and the movement of my shift handle when I apply / release the throttle, but DUH . . .

Ok, so I replaced the front mount, and installed the poly inserts, but I've still got some movement of the shift handle, and sometimes during engine braking, the car will start to buck, so I'm thinking that there is still a mount problem. Is this the most likely cause?

If so, which mount is most likely to be the culprit? I had the trans mount off not too long ago, and it looked like it was in decent shape. Is it more likely the drivers side mount, or the one under the intake?

How big a pain is that rear mount? Do I need to remove the intake manifold, or just the air inlet tube to get access to it?

    It's a 94, F22B2 with standard trans.

I would remove the intake tube and put eyes on the rear mount I have a 95 and the rear one has a vacuum line ran to it that stupid mount is why I had to replace the cv axles when I got the car. I'm almost positive you can do it without taking the intake off.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have the vac (only on autos I believe) but it may well be the problem. I'll see if I can get eyes in there this week.

its not terrible to get at. seems how your trans mount and driver side mount do most of the "holding up", it shouldnt be a huge issue getting out either.

but when you pull it out, grab some poly urathane, either from mcmaster carr (mix), or your local hardware store (caulking tube), and take some time and fill the rear mount. and even the front one if your feeling frisky. those poly inserts dont do a WHOLE lot.

Yea I removed one in the junkyard with just the tube removed, wasn't too hard.

I used window weld to fill it, I dont care what everyone says, it works fine, just let it cure for a week or 2 before installing the mount in the car

Awesome info here guys! I wasn't all that thrilled with the way that those inserts went in, and didn't think they were going to do a whole lot, so I might take a shot at filling the front mount too. Will hit up the Home Depot and see what they have!
