I am not versed on this type of situations. But if
there was no oil in the transmission, wouldn't it grind
in all gears, or even not let you shift into gears at all?

Wheres TOMQUICK!!!??! He would most likely know...

      thanks for replying..

and you're right...if it was bone dry...it would bind up and not let me shift at all...Im guessing...its LOW on oil...not bone dry.

I just hope the transmission itself isn't messed up..thats what Im hoping is NOT the problem. if it is...I will just use a 4th gen 5spd transmission.

I don't know for sure what it is, but I would start by draining the trans fluid, and filling it up with Synchromesh. It worked wonders on my grinding in 1st and 2nd gears, and it isn't terribly expensive, so you aren't out a lot of money if it doesn't help!

Speedo is working properly up to 20mph, I'd guess it's either the VSS, or the Speedo it's self is messed up.

If I get a chance, I'll look later tonight and see if I can find troubleshooting steps for you to figure out which one it is.

          Thanks....

I know these 5th gens are a lot like the 4th gens..( which im VERY familiar with ) this issue is the first for me.. so I'm going to go with my first instinct and check the oil in the transmission ( replace with what you suggested ) and see if that helps.

^ originally...I was going to change it with Honda MTF. because I'm really...really picky on what I put in and on my cars.

usually...I use OEM Honda Parts. OR..if its suspension related ( bushings )..I will use a substitute like ( Moog or ESP )

but I will drain and replace the oil with what you suggested. Synchromesh.

          Thanks....from one tuner/tech to another! ( )
