    Removing low beam shield.

I'm speaking of the cap/shield that is in front of the bulb when you place it in the housing.

A friend of mine did this to his civic and now his headlights are about 1.5x brighter. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried doing this? I looked at a spare jdm headlight and it seems like its only held on by 1 or 2 screws but would require you to take off your lense to pull it out.

Sounds like an easy way to milk your halogen bulbs for all they're worth.

    edit:

seems like for usdm headlights its just a single screw accessible after removing your lense.

I might just pry open one of my spare jdm headlights and have a go at it :].

It's just a little tough because the screw is directly beneath the edge of the housing opening so you're screw driver is at an angle not really firmly in the grooves.

I took apart my fogs yesterday, and they have the same shield, I think im going to take them off, it should give more light output, but headlights might blind people...like the highbeams

that might one of the things that keeps the low beams output down also

You will blind the shit out of people.

Best thing to do is make the inside of the shield more reflective, because if i remember correctly, its flat grey/black inside.
            wat?

                  x2

Plus I'm lowered so my headlights dont even reach the top of other motorists's trunk.
