not really. creating a dash is not very easy to do out of metal. I know i wouldnt quote anything other than an hourly rate especially if it was just a phone call and have not seen the vehicle and drawn it on paper.Originally posted by khal.lawson View Postno set price ?
hmmm
sounds shady , and expensive
nothing like a god d.i.y. man ,
but how would you do it ? cover the current dash ?
also would you really want to have a metal dash in the event of an accident?

another thing to concider is how far the steering wheel is from the firewall. remove the dash and your gonna have like a foot and a half of open space with all the wiring for the column exposed. also think about liability of a passenger. if you were to get in an accident it would be really good grounds for the passenger to sue you. gotta think of all the angles.....

looks like its going to be a race car only from what he said. and would you just take the old dash out leave the supports, remove unnecessary wires for non race necessary parts, and when roll cage gets put in, you could have bar go across were the dash was, get some sheet metal cut holes for gauges and such, and then place on supports and weld on. that would cover the wires and custom dash and gauge placement, you could also look at some in car pics of real race cars and get a general idea of how they made it.

Just go to a metal fab shop or a race shop and ask them to do one or get and make one your self. You'll need a metal break, bead roller, alimnum sheet meatl, cardboard for templates, sharpies, tape mearsure, and of corse some to cut the metal a metal sheer would be best.
