    Scrub a dub dub.

Maybe a brush and dish soap? It looks like its already flakey. And as long as the rest of the VC is good looking its still not bad for free.

i will try to use that stuff but the problem now lays on the inside of the cover where i cannot get a scraper.

Well you COULD drill out the rivets that hold the windage tray, clean the inside, then drill and tap the holes for some small bolts...

i could try that. i have access to pop rivits to!

before i do that...could i just fill that area up with paint stripper and try to swish it out? i might be able to find a gun cleaner brush and do that.

Dunno about that, but remember that you have to plug the PCV port and the breather port on the dizzy side if you go that route. You don't want any of the stripper leaking out and ruining the powdercoat.

You won't find the gallons in parts stores (Atleast i haven't), i've always gotten it from a local paint store. It goes alot further and is stronger (Comes out as a thick gel), you can get way stouter brands aswell.

                Wow

I would not run with it either I don't need engine problems with particles floating in my oil ruining my engine sorry outside would be fine powdered coated but not inside sorry my 2 cents Billy.

Wont need one, this stuff turns the paint etc to a sludge you can rinse away. if you have any left over reapply. I used it to clean some wheels I painted with tractor enamel, and thats some heavy duty stuff..came right off like flame to butter

I've used the spray and the gallon paint stripper. IMO the jug works better on powdercoating. It seems more concentrated, and you can put it where you want it with a small brush. Unlike the spray which goes everywhere! Autozone and O'Reilly's sell this stuff.

as you can see i have cleaned it up quite a bit but there is quite a bit left on the inside. im going to try the paint stripper method.

my question is what do i mask it off with? blue frog tape? i am afraid it will eat thought that stuff

wow what a shitty powder coat job!! dont get me wrong the outside looks great but even a highschool girl would know not to paint the inside especially the part where a fucking gasket goes. I think the dude owes u 30$ to get a new valve cover + a PROPER powder coat job for it AT THE VERY LEAST!

Eek, I would just start over.

                            My thoughts.

no offense, but you've probably spent a few hours dicking around with this by now and it still looks like butthole. Its going to be hard to use aircraft stripper and remove the little nitty gritty bullshit w/out getting any on the finish you are trying to keep-which isn't that great in the first place.

No offense intended man, I know you are trying to make a good thing out of a bad one. Its just that the powder wasn't applied very well, doesn't look like it was baked correctly and generally speaking its just not a very good job.

Sorry man. I am really not trying to be a dick. You can see all kinds of peel in the texture of the paint, and powder coated shit shouldn't be like that. Electrostatic painting is what its called, and when you charge the paint it pulls into the metal like a magnet would to a fridge.

I doubt this thing was baked at a high enough temp to fully activate the powder(cure, not sure if catalyst in paint is actually heat activated, but baking makes a world of difference for longevity), and I doubt it was charged correctly too. It wouldn't have chipped around the gasket sealing or your spark plug entry points if it was.

Sorry for the shitty deal man. I personally think for dollars and time spent you may as well start over with some high temp ceramic rattle can, wet sand and buff action. You could probably get a better finish doing this yourself with a rattle can.

Powder coating really isn't that hard, as long as you are setup to do it correctly and know how to paint.

                            Sorry broski.

your good bro. your not being a dick at all. the guy that did it for me did it for free and he pc hvac parts and they look pristine. i think some of the blame is on me for not prepping it right.

im going to try and strip the inside and if it fucks up the top then i will strip the rest off and spray it.

the problem me and josh had with rattle can is it would turn yellow after time.

can you get me a list of the proper primer and shit to prevent it from turning yellow?
