    Quick Release Front Bumper Mod

Has anyone completed a front bumper quick release mod that is secure?
I have two bumpers and I would like to switch between one and the other for winter/track and daily summer use. Also I can park inside the garage in winter time if the bumper is off which is a HUGE plus! (Car just over doesn't fit in the garage at the moment with bumper on, should be fine with front bumper off. )
    Current:
    2007 Acura TL Type-S 6MT KBP

    Past:
    1992 Honda Accord EX-R Sedan - RIP
    1991 Honda Accord EX-R Wagon - RIP 10/14/2010

Words change lives. You just got to choose the right ones.

ive got the ghetto ass version

i put self tapping screws in to hold the cover on just in the area of the grill. 4 screws come out and the bumper cover comes off

i did that because when i got the cover at the JY the holes for the clips were broken so i had no choice but to find my own method.

You could take the 4 studs the hold the front on and do a little modification and revers the stud design. Have them permanently attached to the car then drill the bumper and instal 4 cam locks that hook on near the metal of the bumper.

        Honestly...

I thought about doing this swicheroo type deal with a USDM and JDM bumper but honestly those premade "kits" are priced crazy just like the Hood spacers and colored washers.

If you search online or can find these athome depot or Lowes you can essentially make your kit for cheap. When I was going to do this I was going to use "Well nuts" This will give you the same effect as the premade kits although not flashy. There are better lower profile and sizes but you get the idea. You could even just dremel them down half the size if you can't find lower profile well nuts. Just be sure the threads are cleaned up.

Just find a large enough screw you can permanently add this to your bumper/fender and then find a heavy duty rubberband and there you go.
I wouldn't recommend a rubberband unless you keep your car in the garage....but if you find some other means of securing it while out in public then by all means.

The rubber band style is one that I never really liked simply because I don't trust the band at all. Would suck to have it get brittle and snap, or its easy enough to have someone come by and mess with it or even cut it.

I've seen other people use the sparco hood springs on the bumpers, if I was to do it I would go that route.

one of those on the corners of the bumper plus the studs that slide through under the headlight would work very well. if its a race car, the battery will be relocated making it much easier to access that side. you would be able to remove the bumper in 30 seconds while still retaining the integrity of the bumper itself.
