just today my signal has been acting up. at first, the left blinker ticked like it was hyperblinking and was blinking VERY dim, when i wasnt even signalling. pulled over and checked the exterior signals, they too were blinking DIM and FAST (again, the signals were OFF). then when i signal or throw on hazards, it goes back to normal. signal off, it ticks and blinks fast again. then tonight after work, i startup the car, and i hear the annoying "hyper-ticking" again, but this time, no dim blinking light, just ticking, and the exterior lights are also NOT blinking now. what the hell could it be? i checked the fuses (under hood and kick panel)

wouldn't a lighting relay cause it to fail entirely? or am i thinking of a flasher...Originally posted by yeamans17there could be a lighting relay thats bad, i'm not sure i've never heard of anyone having this problem, if you have a haynes pull it out and look to see if there are lighting relays, if so, you may have a bad one

Originally posted by yeamans17i'm not sure, let me go find my haynes. i woulda done it a bit ago, but i just got back from running, so let me go take a look to see if thats even a possibility
edit
haynes shows that as well as the fuse for the flashers, there is a relay in the drivers side fusebox, there is also a flasher box that you can try to replace, the haynes description says that you should be able to just pull it out, you may also want to check your hazard switch, because your blinkers wont work at all if its unplugged, so theres a few things you could try if you've got a local cb7er you could just pop theirs out and replace yours to test it
do you know which relay it is in the fusebox? and where is the flasher box, i tried finiding it earlier, but i couldnt pinpoint it. i dont think it will be a problem with the hazard, because the blinkers DO work, it's just that it's "hyper-ticking". there's no hyper-blink at all.

i had this problem, and i thought it was only my car, or that when the guy ran the alarm he tapped into some wire screwing up the whole thing. the funny thing is that it only happed when i was replacing the bulbs with aftermarket bulbs. i changed both (left and right) blinker and one would be super hyper and the other one would have a delayed blink, but when i put on the hazards everything would work fine. i never found out exactly what it was so i just put back stock replacment bulbs and everything worked fine.
basically go to any automotive store and get some stock replacment bulbs (no fancy color, just plain regular ones) and pop them in there and hope for the best.

i changed out my corner bulbs with regular 194 amber bulbs. they are the same as oem, except blink amber. they have never acted up until nowOriginally posted by T3aM 83rDi had this problem, and i thought it was only my car, or that when the guy ran the alarm he tapped into some wire screwing up the whole thing. the funny thing is that it only happed when i was replacing the bulbs with aftermarket bulbs. i changed both (left and right) blinker and one would be super hyper and the other one would have a delayed blink, but when i put on the hazards everything would work fine. i never found out exactly what it was so i just put back stock replacment bulbs and everything worked fine.

Driverside interior fuse box.
