how do I fix this paint?

ok so in october I finaly decided to get a can of custom match spray paint and fix the little rust spot properly(its not through rust just a little bubble). when I bought it the guy said I need clear coat as well it was like $16 anyway its dupont acyrilic PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY stuff. anyway I was in a rush and it was like 5c out when I did it and I tried to blend the paint and clear coat so I pretty much oversrayed all over the rear. a week later I washed it and all the clear coat I sprayed was cracked and turned white. I scratched it with my finger nail and got about 30% of it off. I dont wanna fuck up my good paint and clearcoat underneth I dont know how to get the rest off. is there anyway to get all the crap I sprayed off of my good paint without fuckin it up? btw I didnt prime it properly so theres surface rust were the abre metal was. I can fix that though. any help would be appreciated.

Well im no expert, im dealing with an overspray problem myself, but try the clay bar first, and if that doesn't work then make another post i guess

use polish to smooth it to a shine, so its not visible when dry either

yeah I used some turtle scratch remover and its a lot less noticable when its applied, as long as I dont sand to deep my stock clearcoat should be ok

ok first of all, you don't clearcoat over Acrylic, i would suspect this is why you're experiencing cracking.

second, 5 celsius? ugh, that can't be good.

No paint in a spray can is for professional use only. The guy obviously had no idea what he was talking about. The only paint you clear over is basecoat. Acrylic dries very slowly without a hardner, so most of the acrylic paint you find in spray cans is nothing but pigment and solvent. This is because if they added hardner it would be rock hard in a matter of hours. Acrylic dries using moisture in the air, but very slowly. Only after acrylic is fully cured can you buff and polish it.

Adding clearcoat to your process no doubtedly screwed with the cohesion time, not to mention the acrylic probably sucked all the moisture from the clearcoat. Another POSSIBLE reason why youre chalking off your clearcoat. BEST BET is to sand the whole area and reapply your acrylic WITHOUT the clear, let it cure a couple WEEKS then wetsand and buff. Yeah, weeks. Unless you're spraying from a gun and add hardner then you could do it in a couple days. Acrylic cures VERY slow.

Another option to consider is redoing the area using Plasti-Kote spray can basecoat. This is true basecoat in spray can form, and will require a clearcoat (Plasti-Kote part #5201) And they also have a few oem matches in their database.

i don't understand though what you mean when you say you dont wanna fuck up the good paint and clearcoat underneath.

i dunno about paint xept that paint cleaner polish then wax. thats all i know if you want to take sand paper to your clear coat and the polsih and wx i dunno what will happen. But after looking at various prices instead of trying to DIY and spent 50 dollars less than a maaco color match get it color matched.

no no the clearcoat can is acrylic, I don't know what the paint is made of. the paint stuck fine though. I sprayed the clearcoat almost right after I painted and I sprayed waaay to much and it was like 5C outside. thats why if fucked up, I did the other side at the same time and I didnt clear coat and its still exactly like it was when I did it in october. Ok so I only had a little bubble about 1 inch from where the bumper meets, when I sprayed the stuff I pretty much did the whole quarter panel 95% of it was unecessary, I was trying to blend it

You might want to use a rust preventer of some kind on the other side of that rust bubble (behind the side trunk liner) to slow the cancerous growth until you're ready to deal with it.
