Painting side mouldings

Has anybody had any sucess painting the side mouldings that are located midway up the doors. I know they have a rubber coating and I am curious if they can be sucessfully painted.
Or I am wondering if anybody makes an after market moulding that is not made of rubber and is more paintable?

yea they can be man, they havta be sanded and it would prolly be easier to take em off n paint em. there should be a link here somewhere for it, i kno there used to be but since the sight went down it may have been lost. ill look

did mines on the car, masked the area, cleaned them, sand them, cleaned them, primed, painted, clear topped. was simple and that was about 2 years ago and there still holding up....by side skirts......thats a different story, did those also and ive had to paint them over 3 times so far
