    Side molding

Not sure where else this would apply in the forums, so I'll stick it here . I know on my old ek hatch and 95 teg you could remove the side molding that prevents door dings etc., and use touch up paint to make it match well for a cleaner look. The only cb7's I've seen this done to are ones will full body/kit paint, so that doesn't really help. Any pics on a stock car body wise with the molding removed or info related would be appreciated.

    And two minor questions a bit off topic;

    a) why are some bumpers painted and some not? At first I thought it was a year thing [90-91 not, 92-93 are], but too many cars don't fit the pattern for me to be sure.
    b) what are the beige and charcoal [most think it's black] colors actually called?

Thanks and sorry for the barrage of questions.

you could remove them and paint them.
    paint them in position.
be lucky enough to have a car that comes with body colored side moldings.

i'm really not sure what colors you're referring to... pics are always a plus with these types of things.

Thanks for the info. I haven't bothered searching how to post pics on this forum's format, I'll do it later probably. These guys have the charcoal and beige I was refering too, as well as a sort of 'in between' color. Just helps when car shopping.

posting pics on this forum's format is like posting pics on any other forum.

        timmy0tool's car is rosewood brown.
not sure about shawn.hayden's or 92accorddx... i want to say phantom gray, but i could be wrong.

            yup, phantom gray pearl clearcoat

I looked it up in the PPG computer at the shop we painted my car at, it actually has two blues, two blacks, a white pearl, silver aluminum, and a bordeux red all mixed in, in the right light the phantom gray looks kinda blue/purpleish

if you want to paint the door moldings, you need to sand them down a bit, paint, sand, paint, clearcoat...

                a) DX bumpers are not painted. LX and EX's have painted bumpers, but non painted bumper strips. SE's have completley painted bumpers, including the bumper strips and the door bumpers..

                  not entirely true.

if the person who originally bought the car opted for body colored side modlings, the bumper strip also came body colored. while not a choice on dx's, it was a choice on the lx and ex.

i have an lx, not an se, that has body colored side moldings and bumper strips.
