Vent Select Knobs not working

Sorry if someone else has asked this but I searched for awhile and could not find an answer.

Air only comes out of the vents in the front of the dash no matter what buttin is pushed. It will not switch to the front defrost or to the bottom vents. It is stuck on the front vents. It also will not select between Vent or recirculate.

Has anyone else had this problem? or know how to get the buttons to work?

And if its properly connected at the back of the climate control unit (for an LX/EX/SE), it sounds like an issue with that climate control unit itself.

I was thinking it was an issue with the unit itself. But i wanted to get some more opinions before i went and bought a new one. It has never worked, even before i replaced the heater core.

check your connections, especially if youve replaced equipment related to whats having problems. good luck.

I can hear something moving in there, like when I go from floor to defrost, but the air always comes out of the front vents. Does anyone know how the system works? I never really cared how it worked until now.
