    pulled interior out

ha! i finally pulled out my interior today to "run wiring for my stereo" yeah right, i just wanted it out so that i could run it some without all of that added weight..its a lot louder inside, but it still rides smooth, and the acceleration is a little more brisk than normal. however, the best part, and the one that i didnt think about, was the benefit of being able to stop soo much quicker..wow! it was amazing how quickly i could shed speed..it was nice!

exactly what did you take out? You should barely notice any difference at all...

I did that for a while but I got pretty tired of it. But I did get to take about $5 in change out of the rear A/C vent tubing the original owner thought necessary to slip down the vents.

all the plastic in the trunk, all the door sill moldings, the plastic on the lower b-pillar, carpet, rear seat, passenger seat, tons of little plastic pieces..there should be a difference too, i think i know what im talkin about.. ANY significant weight removal will grant more precise and more acceleration, whether thats normal acceleration, deceleration, or lateral acceleration..
basically the only things that i have left are door panels, dash, steering wheel, and driver's seat, oh, and the headliner

are you sure that you can really feel it? i think its just in your head. because when i do things to my car i think that it may be faster, but the reality is that its not really noticable.

umm, i know my car inside and out, just like every other guy (or girl..cass) that really spends time on here trying to learn more about what they can do for their car...i drive it all the time...every day...im pretty sure i can notice anything different..
lemme ask you this...can you tell when someone is riding with you because of the added time needed for acceleration?

ok, i rest my case...pretty much anyone who drives their car a lot can tell that much added weight..in this case, its merely lost weight, so the car handles better, accelerates quicker and decelerates quicker...the biggest asset of this that i have noticed, though, isnt the added acceleration, but rather the much shorter stopping distances...its soo easy now to stop from 50-60...i love it!

I noticed a difference when I took mine out too. It wasn't huge, but it's definitely there. I now regret doing it though, and I hate the way it looks without the interior. I plan on putting mine back in pretty soon...make sure you keep all your stuff because you will most likely get tired of it pretty quickly.

i'm sure everyone would agree that objective data is better than subjective opinion. that's not to say that your opinion is wrong, but showing the proof is always best. lateral g's, skid pad tests... i guess this isn't car and driver though. realistically, 1/4 mile times (before and after), 60-0 distances (before and after), autocross times/results (before and after) would work.

mondojackal, as an audiophile, i'm sure you don't just flat out agree with a company saying "we make the best quality speaker." i'm sure you'd like to see some real world reviews from a source of some sort.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that the weight reduction isn't helping you; just merely stating that objective data would help to show exactly how it's helped. real numbers are always better than the butt dyno/brake/feel numbers.

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I know the effects of less weight myself, I've removed a lot more then you. I also know my car. If you really think it makes that much of a difference then thats great I guess, can't really argue with someone thinks. But yea you should weight all that just to get an idea. Its probably less then most passengers you would be carrying around. Personally in my car, with a passenger or without, there isn't much of a difference in braking. Its really hard to believe that you have 'much shorter stopping distances'

Check the weight reduction thread in the racing section. I've weighed pretty much everything I've taken out of my car, and a lot of other people have too.
