    DRL Issue...

When I bought the car the DRL's were not working...

Looked - and changed the fuse.

    Unfortunetly...

it is not making the hi-beams run as DRL's (3k yellow bulbs) - but instead the low-beams (which are HID)...

any reason? any way to make it work properly?

Realistically I want to run my hi's at half power like its supposed to...

So your low beams are turning on?

Are you sure you have the right connectors plugged into the right bulbs ( as in you might have your high beam connector on the low beam bulb )

Also don't use HID's in your high beams with DRLs because it runs them at half power which an HID isn't designed to do.

I do have the right connections - for when i click on high beams the high beam portion turns on. Also when I flash it turns on the proper hibeam location and shows the high beam indicator light... so sockets are on right bulbs etc.

i never said i was using hid in my high beams.

HID low - 3k regular bulb high.

weird. just looked over the canadian wiring diagram and theres nothing that looks like it would cause that problem if HIDs are hooked up.... but try disconnecting the original lowbeam connectors from the HID ballasts, and then see if the hibeams light up at all. the DRL behavior is controlled entirely by the DRL module, which in the diagram is a "black box" with no internal information... so perhaps the module itself is bad? unfortunately most people here arent familiar with the stock DRL setup so you might need to consult with some of our Canada-based members who have HIDs.

The issue isnt the hids though... if it were a regular bulb it would be doing the same thing.. sigh.

ah well... just wanted to ba able to run my hi's and half power with my drl.. like they are meant to run... not how now it turns on my headlights as drl.

Sorry, didn't see this earlier. If your car is a 1990, the low beams are what comes on for DRL's. For 91-93, the high beams come on at half power for DRL. So unless someone messed something up, I assume you have a 1990 Accord?

As for the DRL itself, the drl module just like the main relay develop breaks in the solder that you'll need to resolder. It's located under the dash, under the coin tray area with a blue plug. It's very easy to see and easiest to pop the unit out of the casing with a flathead instead of removing the whole thing with the casing attached.

EDIT:Just saw your sig and you do have a 90 so it's totally normal. I pulled my fuse out for the DRL as I didn't want my low beams on all the time.

After reading this, I'm confused now.

So, 1990 only, our DRL's were actually the low beam lights at normal output? I cannot recall ever seeing a 1990 with low beam DRLs.

While 1991-1993 are the typical half power high beams? Every CB I have had, has the high beam DRLs, including a 1990 EX-R coupe and a 1990 EX-R sedan.
