Can you put a H1 bulb into oem foglight?

I know the oem fogs use H3's, well atleast thats what I read when I searched. But I also read the output on an H3 bulb is nothing like the output on an H1 bulb, so, is there anyway to put an H1 bulb into the oem fogs? Has anyone done it before?

I've seen an h7 bulb put in.

Do you know if the h7 bulb is to hot for our foglights? It seems like they would be.
