    LED Tail Light conversion

Anyone thought about LED tail light conversion for a CB7? If I can find some cheap, I'm gonna do one.

    Who's got cheap stock tails?

Led tail light conversion? Wouldnt it look the same? Or be brighter if you had stock tails. Unless you had the clear diamond cut tails. Let me know

But yeah try it and see what happends

It can be done, with patience and the parts.

Here's an example of LED tail lights.

I've got another idea that I think would look way better. I need a stock tail lamp assembly, cheap. So if anyone's got one they'd want to donate or I'll pay a small nominal fee..

              It would be greatly appreciated.

APC makes LED bulbs in all of the bigger aplications like 1156/1157 and 2057s and stuff like that. At first I thought I had 1157s so I bought those. They didn't fit and then that's when I noticed I used 1156s(I know it's 2057 but I accidentally looked at the turn signal and reverse bulbs). So then I bought 1156s, and now I'm stuck with 1156s and no LED tail lights. What's your idea? Are you going to fiberglass a surface to mount LEDs on? I was thinking about that and doing the bulbs in 2 circle arrangements, both about 3 inches in diameter. I'm too chicken to do it though. Besides, I wouldn't know where to start.

Yeah, something similar to that.. But I had planned on mounting individual LEDs, not the premanufactured ones that are in a circle. I want a nice even grid type pattern.

I don't want to bust my OEMs up so I'm looking for some cheap used OEM so if I mess up taking them apart or whatever, it wouldn't matter.

How much would you pay for a set shipped? Perhaps 2 if you mess up? Let me know.

well guys, if you got G35 led's or anything like that...your tails would be a bit brighter..but it definetly wouldn't be worth the money or hassle. You need CLEAR lights to see LED's clearly, for example 97-01 ludes etc etc.

The led bulbs you get from pepboys, make your turn signals go crazy fast. Just a heads up. And they don't really do anything over stock bulbs..i returned them a hour later

i'm not sure what you are talking about , but you could just buy those led bulbs at autozone.....i did it to my car and they are a little brighter, that and it makes my tails look like a brighter red when they are on

you would need a whole buttload of high-intensity focused red LEDs... and that could definately get pretty pricey... the site i normally get LEDs from sells them for 60cents each, and they are the cheapest site ive found online... so maybe u could find a bulk box of them somehow... http://www.lsdiodes.com/5mm/ just make sure the LEDs you get are high intensity... like 7000mcd... because most red LEDs, the cheap ones, are super dim and would not work as brake lights at all.

good luck if you try it... ive always wanted to try it myself, but its a pretty pricey DIY. i always wanted to try converting the whole tail light to LEDs... red brake lights, amber blinkers, 12000mcd white reverse lights... the good thing is, all of hte high intensity LEDs have a clear lense so u cant see them when they are off

Whoa! $.60 each? Ack... I would kick myself in the left nut before I'd pay that much in bulk... I buy mine from a place here in town called Norvac Electronics, for about half that price.
