    6.5" Sub mounting

    Hey,
I was thinking about getting 2 of these: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...8C65VT4&tp=111
and putting them in like this:http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=64136
The speakers are advertised as being free-air. Would this be ok? or would it be better to build a small sealed enclosure?
    Thanks.

Also please don't tell me to go bigger, get a trunk box ect. ect. I'm trying to save space and make these look nice and clean. I just need a filler for the bass, I really don't want to be heard 1/4 mile down the road...

I'm also considering mounting the amps to the back of the back seat. Anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks.

I think you would be better of with like a 8 or maybe even a 10 in a small enclosure.

Haha looks are for sissies when they take them too far (ricers)... I just want the subtle-ness of them and some bass without changing to much. I like my trunk room.

These will give you far better output than the one you linked to; http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=264-832

If I were you, I'd go with two of the TB 6.5" subs I linked to and build a small enclosure, about 1.6^3 sealed, for the both of them, and stick it in the corner of the trunk, opposite side to the hidden jack compartment.. you'll get some decent output from them, much better than using those 6.5" kickers in free-air .

I was considering that, but I'm looking for a more subtle look. Kinda like a sleeper audio system (except the HU) I also like the fact that I could just flip the arm rest up and hide them while parked so people can't just look in my car and want to break into it.

Are those really any better? The voice coil looks smaller...
What about these JLs? http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...66W3V34&tp=111, or the Kickers in a sealed box... also, whats the rule for putting more than one speaker in a sealed box? do you double the cu. ft. needed?

x2 on tb's. can't beat them for the price.
And if you are talking about the magnet size, it has nothing to do with performance. The TBs use neodymium magnets which are much more powerful than the ferrite magnets.

did he not say right off the bat, dont tell him to put in a box? lol read before you post.

I'm on the same page as loudcb7. 6.5's and 8's can bang hard as hell. Especially if you use multiples. The surface area of the cone can far exceed a 10 or 12 using smaller woofers. In the end what it comes down to is moving air. Stay away from kicker... junk shit imo.
