    Two Monoblock Kicker Amps?

So I'm fairly new at the whole sub thing.

My question is, does it make sense to have two kicker ZX300.1 Monoblock amps (300watts max, 150rms) running two 12" subs (haven't bought them yet). The reason that I want to know is because I can get them dirt cheap ($100CDN as opposed to +$300 retail).

Is it worth my while to get two ZX300.1s or spend twice as much on one good amp? They will probably end up pushing two decent Pioneer Premier subs. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes it makes perfect sense as long as you know how to wire them up. Since this is your first sub setup, 300w rms is pretty good for a cheap start.

why not just get the 750.1 amp?
save space...its an ok idea but that extra space for a 4 channel amp too.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

And, it's all about having more "stuff" I would of paid 100 bux a piece for em. Wiring them won't be an issue at all

Yeah, I think the stereo shop is doing it all for me. I figure if they install it and something goes wrong, it's their problem and not mine. Yes I realize I could do it myself but I'd rather a professional do it.

Anyways, I ordered two Kicker ZX300.1s and I'm also picking up two Alpine Type Rs (12"). I figure it should sound nice once I get them installed.

hopefully the subs will be at 2 ohms...that amp only hits at 300 watts at 2 ohms and like 175 at 4 ohms.

i got a directed 2400d amp on ebay used for 170....goes for hecka more normally...and its a true 1 ohm stable 1200watts rms. im running 2 10'' 7500

The subs have dual voice coils so I can run them at pretty much anything depending on how I wire them (2ohm, 4ohm, 8ohm, etc.) Each coil is 4ohm, so if I run them in parallel (I think it was), they are 2ohm. I made sure to test them with a multimeter after I mounted them.

Anyways, the only thing is that the subs are rated at 500watts rms each, and the amps are said to get something like 380watts rms. I realise I could slap a bigger amp onto it, but I'm assuming that 380watts to a 12" sub should be sufficient for my uses. And if I ever wanted to upgrade I could just replace the amps.

The next thing I might have to look at is a 4 channel amp for the rest of the speakers (Pioneer Premier 6.5" in the front, Rockford 6x9" in the back) because I have an odd feeling that the subs are going to drowned everything else out. I can barely fit the sub box in my trunk, not to mention that the box with subs mounted in it are over 110lbs (without the amps).

Yeah. The box is dual ported and pretty big. Here's a picture of it:

I might add an image of it with the box in the trunk later today if I get around to it.

I've heard that the Type-R's prefer an enclosed box, but I got a great deal and it looks awesome.
