    Factory Bose System Trouble!!!!

I have a 93 se and it has a factory Bose system, and i just installed a new headunit. i was wondering does anyone know why it makes a hummmmming sound through the speakers when the radio is on and it seems like the humm noise gets louder the faster i go.......... the radio plays fine but when i switch to CD mode the antenna goes down and i hear no sound.....is this because of the bose system, HELP PLEASE!!!

    ok
first of all that humm.... is engine noise you need to separate your RCA and power cables, get better RCA's or wrap some silver dynamat around the RCA where they are near the power wires.

    second

when you switch to CD the sound cuts off because you connected the replacement headunits antena power wire(blue white) and once the stereo is switched from FM it turns off the antena and other power sources connected to it.
what you can do is conncet the Amp remote wire from the replacement headunit ( blue).

most likely this is your problem. if not....

if you connected ant power to antena power and amp remote to amp remote and it still doesn't work then your Bose amplifier ddoesn't turn on by the remote power supplied from the aftermarket headunit.

there are many variations to wiring this

one is you can wire up a relay to turn your Bose amp on
another is to bypass the amp altogether.

e-mail me with your specs(what kind of headunit, speakers and such) and I'll be happy to answer all your Audio questions and tell you how to do the stuff step by step. i'll even email you a wiring diagram LOL

Did you remove the factory Bose amplifier unit from under the rear deck?

The 93 SE has a head unit that sends low power signal to the Factory Bose amp mounted on the rear deck, the Amplifier then splits the signal sending only higher pass signals to the front speakers and all the low pass signal to the rear 6x9. It also of course amplfies the signal.

You have have a problem there being as maybe you are sending already powered signal to then be amplified again by the factory amplifer.

What I would do if I where you is remove the factory amplifier and also upgrade speakers (if you haven't done so already).

Also the factory Bose speakers have a very odd impedence compared to general automotive speakers. If you've changed your speakers already their impedence could be to low for the factory amp and that would cause issues aswell.

I've never worked on the factory Accord Bose audio system but I've worked with allot of Acura's and I don't see why it would be very different.

I would take a look at those things.

i have the same problem with my car and i work at an place that installs speakers. I have tried seperating the rcas and power that didn't work, i then rewired the amp that didn't work. Finally i juts got tired of messing with it and reran the speaker wires to the headunit (bypass the factory wiring harness) and there is no longer any hum. I thought it was just a bad amp, however i doesn't make a hum when the car is turned off, only when the engine is running.
          I don't lie, I bullshit

Well remember engine whine (hum) is created by a poor ground field. You have to think of power as a circle. Positive at one side and negative at the other.

What goes out one end must return via the other. Engine whine can be attributed to poor grounds. Sometimes people don't realize the power has to get back to the battery... They run a 4 gauge power wire to the Amps but the return wire from the chassis to the battery negative is an 8 gauge. It's like tring to fit square threw a round hole.

Pickey (sometimes poor) audio electronics will be more subject to engine whine, not that all the electronics in your car won't be suffereing however with the amps you can actually listen to the problem. The Accord's battery is grounded to the chassis threw an 8 gauge and the engine block threw a 4 but the engine is mounted in rubber. That why those ground straps from the engine to chassis are so importent because they are creating a method for the elctricity to complete it's circle.

Try improving the grounds between the chassis, battery, and equipment and you will notice the improvement.

Also when I used to work in car audio with several sound processors, amps, and etc. some vehciles would just have a whine that was hard to eliminate, The easiest way to do this was by creating a ground loop, so all the equimpent shared a common ground, this was easily accomplished with an 18/16 gauge wire run to the common grounds of each device, for example fron the radio to the EQ to the Crossover to the Amps just a wire that would make a stop at each device creating a ground loop. That normally will kill any sutle whine left behind after the more common issues have been cleared up.
